3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: AUG 29, 2004 A smooth, creamy Belgian-style ale with plenty of flavour and body. The head comes out huge and fluffy, and has a distinct spicy bite to it, probably on the relatively high alcohol content. But it's frighteningly easy to drink, with little aftertaste and a warm, floral aroma.

tasty, yet subtle. a good starter for someone who’s just beginning to try belgian style beer.
it’s practically too easy to drink given the alcohol content, though. (ie, you could get zonked without realizing it---happens alot with those belgian beers, dontcha know.)

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: OCT 8, 2007 Yeasty doughy aroma. Flavor is mostly spice and dough with just a hint of grain. Full bodied for a blond, very smooth with a pleasant malty aftertaste.

3.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: MAR 16, 2014 Calling this a blond is deceptive, it has a very full bodied flavor. Nice head on the pour and an impressive aftertaste. Very good beer! Orig rate 2/7/02..3.6. Ah yes young Dave, a belgian blonde would be more full bodied and more bold in flavor than an American blonde. Aroma of caramel malt. Sips very clean. Medium carbonation & body. Moderate bitterness, no hop flavor almost all caramel malt sweetness, but with a mostly dry middle and finish. Still a solid brew.

I tried this delicious pale abbey in an Irish bar in Windsor called Patrick O’Ryans. I was immediatley impressed by this smooth, almost sweet ale. It has a rather high alcohol content so after a few of these you will feel it. This is perhaps one of the finest abbeys I have ever had.
