Nice and smooth, but lacking in bite (taste that is, not ABV--the 6.6.% is well hidden). A Belgian Ale for those starting out on Belgian ales (it helped me) but not one of the more complex members of the club.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Great toffee sweet sort of aroma, but the flavor didn’t totally come through to back it up. Nice mouthfeel, a little fizzy, a little creamy. Pale golden, like the description says. I think this would go well with a dessert of some kind, maybe ice cream with some toffee or caramel.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: JAN 17, 2008 Re-rate: 330 ml bottle, best before 11/11/08. Pale golden amber with a mostly lasting frothy and rocky off-white head. Spicy, clove, caramel, yeasty, and lightly metallic aroma. Toffee, light spice, yeasty, and citrus flavours with a lightly metallic, acidic, and brown sugar finish, Medium bodied, prickly but smooth mouthfeel. Surprised that I’m still rating this as high as I am, though it certainly isn’t the amazing stuff I once thought it was. 7/4/6/4/13
Original Rating: Deep copper colour, creamy off-white head. Cloves, nutmeg, and toffee aroma. Mellow spicy, clove, and toffee flavours with a full-bodied and warming mouthfeel. 7/4/7/4/15

golden yellow with a thin head that stays throughout. The spicy taste is interesting. There also seems to be a touch of sweetness. A well-balanced beer, enjoyable to drink.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Probably the worst belgian beer I’ve had, besides Stella. That’s not saying it’s bad, because most belgians seem to be above average. I guess this is only slightly above average. Nicely malty, with a touch of sour hoppiness in the background. Not much fruitiness, considering, and pretty unmemorable.

Light, frothy head. Looks like carbonated apple juice. Sweet/sour smell... like apple juice, but with a hint of malt. Yeasty taste... a bit sweet, not much else, a little bitterness hidden behind it. Easy drinking but not a repeat. The alcohol is very well hidden - not detectable at all.
