I’m usually not one for Belgian beers and if I do have one I usually have to put a lemon in it. However, one look at this Abbey Ale rich head breathing in your challis and you’ll know why it has such a high rating. Then as if the aroma was enough of a treat the taste is just perfect. You will think to yourself, "Self, this is exactly the beer I needed."

33 cL bottle from LCBO. Pours a clear light amber colour with near white pillowy quickly dissappering head. Aroma consists of mild hops, grass, citrus fruit and a definitive yeast scent. Tastes rather sweet with mild hop kick although with little bitterness. I’m having a hard time detecting the taste of citrus which dominates in the aroma but isn’t present in the taste. This beer is light bodied and slightly sticky in it’s finish. Fizzy carbonation dominates however complemented with the sweetness and bitterness characteristics associated with this beer. In conclusion Leffe Blonde is a well rounded beer that’s definitely worth drinking on a regular basis.

Loved the color, poured well. Nice head.
Coriander flavor, sort of wheaty taste.
One of my top beers for sure.

A fine beer--on draught, otherwise it comes off rather watery, especially on the finish. Chimay is quite popular around here, but this has proven to be an excellent and welcome alternative. Excellent scent, and the length of flavor (on draught) is impressive. Creamy texture is almost naughty...fine, sweet clove/allspice/hop character.

Bottle. Slightly cloudy golden colour with dissipating lacing head. Spicy aroma with hints of banana. Malty and banana flavours.

UPDATED: MAR 29, 2007 Poured from a bottle into a trappist glass. Tart scent. Pissish-looking, with continued carbonation. Formed little to no head! Tastes just like overripened (rotten) watermelon. Tastes bad. Strong and lasting command of the mouth. I chose not to finish the entire glass.

This is a great beer if you are in the mood for something light, sweet, and wheaty. It’s a good beer for connoisseur newbies.
