3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
A co-worker of mine found a bottle of this in his basement from his trip to Europe in the mid-90's. The date on the bottle said 12/97, so this has aged in his dark basement along with a small bottle of hoegaarden white for about 6-7 years. He was willing to trade me these beers for a bottle of my homebrew. I wasn't sure who got the better deal until I tried it. Suprisingly, this beer was still intact. It poored amber colored with a little head that quickly disappeared. The lacing on the glass was significant and the aroma was of licorice and pepper. The medium-bodied mouthfeel led to a taste that was predominantly licorice with a fruity, tingly-sweet finish. I have never tasted a fresh bottle of this beer, but when I do I will re-rate. It was just interesting to try an aged belgain.

3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
For a blond, it’s solid and very drinkable on a warm spring day; however, it is certainly nothing over the top amazing. Aroma is sweet, bread, very faint spice. The taste is a little more interesting with some faint clove notes, faint banana, and lots of yeast and bread. The sweetness is very sticky on the palate and the finish is fizzy--just where you’d expect it from a Belgian.

Ins Glas ergießt sich ein leicht trübes goldenes Bier mit ordentlicher Schaumkrone. Geruch hefig, malzig süß, leicht würzig. Geschmack leicht hefig, fruchtig malzig, Gewürze, blumig.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
33cl bottle. Very sweet without hoppy feeling. It had some sharp, waspy taste from the yeast or alcohol. You can feel some pale fruity taste also. Foam is thick and fine, colour and Co2, body is OK. Not a big choice.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Not terrible. Has a bit of a strong yeast taste, like the Belgian that it is. Not great, but not terrible.

Great beer. Beutiful, sweet aroma, corresponding with the sweetness of the malts in flavour. Very, very drinkable.
