3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 sayravai (4548) - Helsinki, - NOV 23, 2003
UPDATED: JUL 8, 2005 (Bottled) Clear, pale amber color with a smallish, lasting head. Spicy, witbier-like aroma with also some hefeweizen-like bananaish fruitiness, plus some strawberry on top. Very fruity, yeasty, reasonably malty, sweetish and slightly acidic flavor. Medium-bodied, smooth and very drinkable, although quite carbonated and acidic palate. Alcohol is well hidden, but a bit warming. A quite pleasant and refreshing summer drink that joins witbier and hefeweizen into one bottle (with added sugar, though). I don’t quite understand the bottle’s recommendation of drinking this at 5-6C...well, maybe during summer.
[Pre-rate Jan 30, 2004] Clear, light amber color, small head. Yeasty aroma with banana and strawberry (both also present in the flavor). Sweet, a bit sour flavor. A very enjoyable and refreshing, though maybe a bit too sweet blonde. Feels like a mixture of Belgian tripel and a British ale. Also much like Lammin sahti. Great summer drink on a terrace - luckily it’s widely available on tap. The bottle is very beautiful, too. (7-3-7-4-14=3.5)

Faint yeast aroma, golden clear pour. Honeyed apple flavor with yeasty funk rising behind it. Rather crisp. Very nice.

A taste of honey as a beer. Sweet, tastefull and very good from tap. One of my absolute favourites.

Keg at The Maltings, York. Nostalgic beer for me, as I remember drinking it watching qualifying for the Belgian Grand Prix at Spa. Pours a clear amber, finger of pillowy head. Aroma is banana, wheat, Belgian esters. Taste is similar, stronger than is expected and nice and juicy, with a bit of bread too. Long finish. Really very nice.

Rating #44 for 2012
12oz bottle cool from a shaker glass. Aroma woody, apple juice, some bubble gum. A 1 inch chalky white head over golden amber liquid spotty watery lacing. Taste was sweet the way wet weat smells. Medium carbonation finished very smooth.

330ml bottle into a pint glass.
Couldn’t find bottling date information anywhere but the best before was 18/4/13.
Three fingers of rocky, sparkling white head that fades slowly to leave a nice cap.
Decent lacing throughout.
Color is a beautiful light golden, with a tiny tiny bit of orange
Aroma is bready, with hints of banana
Flavour is banana for days, with flavours of wheat and just the smallest bit of citrus on the finish and a hint of something sweet. Perhaps a slight bit of spiciness in there on the mid palate, but nothing significant.
Very crisp, light and clean with a short finish and only a slight, hint of bitterness (so small I didn’t notice it at first).
Overall a decent tasting beer, but I’m not a fan of the excessive banana and the palate is pretty simplistic.

Sweet aroma, sort of like a banana. Strong presence of cloves. Not my favorite Belgian beer, but easy to find so it will do.

On tap at Byron Pub in Cannes. Clear yellow pour with a white head. Cereal and Belgian yeast aromas. The taste follows suit. I find this beer to be bland, lifeless, and devoid of soul. A casualty of in-bevs nefarious and incestous desire to rule the world....
