"Leffe Blond is a pale abbey beer, with a full, sunny, golden colour. It has a smooth and full bodied taste and a rich creamy head. Like all the Leffe beers, it is a ’connoisseur’ beer that is easy to drink."

Poured into a chalice glass, this beer showed a large white head and a beautiful orange color. The aroma was floral with a heavy yeast overtone, as with most Belgian ales. The taste is very smooth, with a medium sweetness. Full bodied, creamy, with an almost sticky mouth feel. Nice, long finish. I have a love-hate relationship with Belgian ales. I often love them at first taste, but eventually find them cloying. Also, I also do not care for the overpowering taste of the yeast used in Belgian ales. But they are very smooth, and if the sugar and yeast could be toned down, they would be among my favorites. FYI - for those who are not aware, Leffe is not a Trappist ale, nor is it brewed by an abbey. It is brewed by Stella Artois under license of the Leffe Abbey.

330ml bottle. A little cloudy but golden when poured. Some carbonation - lively even. Good head, dissipating slowly. Sweet, low hops - taste of banana and malts, with little aftertaste. Great example of a commercial Belgian blonde beer.

Bottle from Harvest Market Pours a crystal clear light golden color with a decent sized bubbly bone white head that slowly dissipates. Aromas of bready sweet pilsner with a touch of floral hops and a solid shot of pepper and yeasty esters. The flavor is rich and sweet with hints of orange and sweet bread. Peppery yeasty with a bit of spice rounds out the flavor quite nicely. Medium body with a spirited level of carbonation and a spicy bubbly mouthfeel. That is a pretty nice Belgian right there, I’m surprised I haven’t tried this before.

Nice head, moderate lacing. Golden color with some carbonation. Floral and hoppy smell. Floral and sweet taste with notes of cloves and allspice. Sweet finish without bitter after taste that is characteristic of ales like this. Very smooth mouth feel that sticks to your tongue but not in a bad way.

Picked up a bottle from a supermarket in Sofia. Clear light caramel colour. A distinctive aroma that mixes a bit of caramel and perhaps even bread. Medium head and carbonation. The taste is yeast-y and overall heavy, with a slight note of bitterness to it. Full-bodied and thick with long finish.

No question, Leffe Blonde is a sexy beer. The golden body is damn pretty and the clean white head leaves behind some excellent lacing. While the aroma has less grassy hop character than I’d like from an ale of this type, the yeasty smell is pleasant. The taste was also just shy of being great. I liked the smooth yet complex flavors, but I wanted more hop crispness and thought the malt sweetness was slightly overbearing. Leffe hardly compares to many of its phenomenal Belgian contemporaries but it’s still satisfying.

330 ml Bottle from Carrefour, Xintiandi, Changchun. Pours golden with a white head. Aroma of malt and bread. Good body, some bitterness in the finish. Dangerously drinkable.

Pours an orange-gold with a long lasting white head with much lacing. The aroma is yeast with slight citrus. Malt is upfront that dissipates in a quick sweetness caramel like ending in a mild hop bitterness.
