danielst (131), Vienna, Austria Apr 19, 2009 Updated: Sep 3, 2009Dark brown pour with a a fluffy off-white head. Aroma of berries, yeast and cherries, some nougat in there too. A warm fruity flavour hits the tongue immediately, followed by a bittersweet chocolatey finish. Well-carbonated with a creamy mouthfeel. Quite reminiscent of, yet far better than the Blond - no flaws to me. Yummy stuff and far too drinkable! Markys (64), Stockholm, Sweden Apr 18, 2009 Aroma is a little roasty with hints of chocolate, caramel and coffee. It’s a very flavorful beer. It’s sweet and tastes a little like dark chocolate. I like it a lot. deyholla (507), Bloomington, Indiana, USA Apr 18, 2009 On tap. Pours a dark brown and has an aroma of bread with hints of some fruitiness. Doesn’t seem to be a true "Brune" as it taste more like a weisse. Still easy drinking and enjoyable. jesperhammer (260), Copenhagen, Denmark Apr 18, 2009 Hmm!
Is this really the Brune?
It is very yeasty and "weisse"-like. It is no way near a brown ale.
Brown with off-white head.
Malty and citrus taste and smell.
A little creaminess. Overall a nice beer, although not very complex. Sregnar35 (729), Rotterdam, New York, USA Apr 5, 2009 On tap at Mahars. Rich dark brown color with a great foamy head. Flavor is complex ands sweet, a really perfect belgian dubbel. crazyvin (1246), New York, USA Mar 30, 2009 on tap at gingerman. Poured a murky brown with an tanish head that had good retention. Aroma was mostly of bread notes but had some dried fruit in the background. Flavor was initally sweet with dried fruits and some bread notes. Flavor needed a little more kick , for it seemed one-demensional at times, otherwise the beer was good.
