Fruity and spicy (clove) aromas. Bittersweet taste with bitterness dominant. Quite nice flavor. Medium body and dry after taste. In my opinion the best leffe. Filip

Bottle 330 ml at home, into a tulip glass. ABV 8.2% Very dark orange colour, almost light amber. Two fingers of off-white head, thick and with very good retention.Weak but wide lacing left on the glass. Aroma has lots of caramel, malts, dried figs, dark fruits but a bit sour-ish. Taste is sweet, caramel, figs, plums, medicinal and alcoholic. Thin to medium body, okay carbonation, could use a bit more. Overall okay I guess, at times seems a bit artificial.

In glass is a dark orange beer with an unstable big head, the aroma is pretty good, fitting the style of a belgian ale, with caramel, floral, citrus and nuts notes. The flavor is strong but balanced the malt and hop are felt all the way through. The finish is clear, and the remaining flavor is quite pleasant

Caramelo marcante, com alguma coisa cítrica. Teor alcoólico não é muito alto e amargor suave.

OLD NOTES MAR 4, 2004 Quite a strong aroma. Sourish nose with a bit of spice and sweet fruitiness is what I get. Pours clean dark redish amber with tan lacing. A carmally malt beginning a fair bit of alcohol gets through quite quickly. A number of sour fruity notes along with way, maybe apple, and a fair bit of spice towards the end. Creamy kind of mouthful that is a bit let down by the quite apparent alcohol. Very nicely flavoured beer, maybe lacking enough to mask the alcohol as so many other Belgian strongs do so well.

330ml Bottle. This pours a clear red brown with a medium but lasting white head. Its aroma is less than strong but of sweet red fruits biscuits and malts. Its flavour is over sweet with hints of raisins and malt. The finish is sweet dry and smoky. Theres just not enough taste to balance the over sweet taste

Bottle. Pours a clear amber color with a medium sized white head. Aroma is malty and fruity. Taste is malty and fruity with a slightly bitter aftertaste. Body is average and carbonation is medium. Not the best Leffe (imho). ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

330ml bottle bought at Belgian Beer International in Tsuen Wan.

Clear burgundy colour with no yeast sediments; One-quarter finger head and soapy off white foam which lasts for 30 seconds; Small sticky lacing and quite fizzy carbonation; Fragrant sweet aroma of malt, with strong banana, vanilla, caramel, sugar, coriander, faint alcohol and light spices; Medium sweet taste of light malt, with banana, ester, light alcohol, brown sugar, shades of raisins, Bel yeast, light liquorices, lemon zest and grass; Mid to light body, slick and slightly creamy palate; Mouth feel is decent but light malty body and nicely-carbo. Good Bel yeast with strong, simple estery character. Coriander and spice is mostly on aroma, pretty low on taste; The 8.2% booze is fairly light on taste and well hidden throughtout, Good… Hoppiness is light spicy nose, lemon, light spice and sharp hops in taste; Liquorices is light and supportive enough for lasting, quite comfy low-bitter finish; Slightly dry after taste, neat bitter-sweet to mouth.

Comments: Having the pretty lowly Leffe Royale a day before, this is a step better Strong Belgian Ale, definitely on the decent category - good colour, better body and yeasty taste, and good booze presentation - downside being simplistic esters and very light spicy taste. Still not onto the tasty level Leffe Vieille Cuvee, this is the better representative of the castrated (i.e. yeast-filtered) Leffe brews. It’s decent, but gimme back the yeast would be better!
