Storm (2684) - Amager, DENMARK - OCT 16, 2005
33 cl bottle. No yeast in bottom. Dark amber colour with a rocky white head. Nice complex aroma of wheat and dried fruit. Great complex and spicy flavour. The alcohol is well hidden. Definately the best Leffe.

Bottle (from Sainsburys). Fruity with dark sugar notes and belgian yeast. Fairly sweet without much balance. Interesting to start with but ultimately disappointing.

A very disappointing attempt from Leffe. Short lived, both on aroma and in flavour. Blonde & brune are much better, OK I appreciate this is a different style, but it delivered very little. Fine Wine Shop, Musselburgh.

Nekronos (3646) - Xalapa, MEXICO - OCT 4, 2005
UPDATED: FEB 7, 2006 It was not that great, I preferedd the Leffe Brune, but anyway, it was good, and the colour was great, it is like the Gouden Carolus.

Veer (362) - Landskrona, SWEDEN - SEP 28, 2005
UPDATED: JUN 18, 2006 Deep red, nice head. Smells caramel, malty, fruity, berries, yeast and wellbalanced. It tastes smooth and rich. Not as sweet and malty as I would have preferred it.

Belial (71) - BELGIUM - SEP 23, 2005
UPDATED: MAR 24, 2011 A very small head, Leffe Ambrée has a deep red colour and red-fruits aromas with a very small bit of salty taste additionnally. A good amber beer that seems to be a light ale actually.

wunderbier (1434) - Tampere, FINLAND - SEP 18, 2005
Deep red-amber hue with a rocky, creamy, off-white head. Cherries, plums, straw, caramel, alcohol, sugar, and a hint of anise. But, mostly the aroma is of very dark fruits. Very sweet throughout with a sharp acidity and an alcohol tinge in the back end. Medium body, velvety texture, fizzy carbonation. Thank Eris I finally figured out what this unlabeled (in my notebook) rating was for! --We’re on a pig’s back charging through a velvet field--

maeib (8750) - Wootton, Northampton, Northamptonshire, ENGLAND - SEP 16, 2005
Bottled. A mid brown coloured beer with a large off-white head and good lacing. The aroma is sweet and sugary with caramel fruits and yeasts. The taste is candy sugar and fruitiness. Typically Belgian without being mainstream like you would expect from a multinational beer. Nice malts and nice beer all round.

Beer No 11 on the Wilsons’ Road Trip 2005. Bottle from Sainsbury’s, Chester. Much better than I expected. Unusual reddish colour. Aroma includes smoke and wood, spice, dark fruit. Good mouthfeel. Nice vinous finish.

thehipone (197) - AUSTRALIA - AUG 21, 2005
Pours out to a deep reddish color topped by a lingering, finely beaded head. Typical Belgian beer aroma of dark fruits and spice plus a bit of rose smell. The flavors arent quite as heavy as I expected, again the dark fruits and spices are there, but nothing really takes over the palate. A little bit of that horse-blanket flavor near the finish. Smooth, creamy mouthfeel. Alcohol content is apparent, not quite as well hidden as the top Belgians.
