3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 johndoughty (2814) - cheslyn hay, West Midlands, ENGLAND - NOV 19, 2005
Gol;den brown appearance with a full body. Some fruitiness but not overpoweringly so, and quite deceptive as the relatively high alcohol presence doesn’t distract from the complexity of the beer.Left plenty of lacing. A good drink especially in the winter..
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 stobbe74 (2767) - DENMARK - JUL 11, 2011
Pours a clear and reddish copper beer with an offwhite head. The aroma is malt, caramel, yeast and fruit. The flavor follows the nose with additional alcohol. The palate is sweetness with alcoholwarmth. Overall an average beer.
3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 stouby (2725) - Holbæk, DENMARK - MAR 6, 2005
Bottle, at GB.
Brown with light brown head, large, almost disappearing. Aroma of burnt malt and fruity bitterness of hops. Flavor moderate bitter, well balanced. Medium to full body, creamy, normal corbonation.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 tupalev (2708) - Waterloo, Ontario, CANADA - DEC 2, 2009
Bottle, LCBO Giftpack 2009. Nice sweet, alcohol aroma, some dark fruit and some spice. Pours a nice dark brown with copper notes and a creamy just off-white head. Taste - creamy but light mouthfeel, strong alcohol, sweet metallic like tang. Hmm - quite warming but body is a bit to thin and the beer is a little too sweet and strong - it does not seem to come together all that well. Actually on a few more sips it is the finish - up until there it is a pleasant but simple Belgian Strong - in the finish though the sweetness takes over too much. I think it is actually the yeast + sweetness I do not like, as there is a bit of a house Leffe taste here. Glad to have a chance to try it
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Storm (2685) - Amager, DENMARK - OCT 16, 2005
33 cl bottle. No yeast in bottom. Dark amber colour with a rocky white head. Nice complex aroma of wheat and dried fruit. Great complex and spicy flavour. The alcohol is well hidden. Definately the best Leffe.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Gusler (2655) - Tucson, Arizona, USA - MAR 3, 2002
The beer has that deep ruby brown color that I love, the beige head is generous, the lace adequate. Nose is malt, fruity, maybe a bit of plums? The start sweet, the middle light as is the cabonation, hop spicy, dry, slightly acidic, interesting flavors to say the least.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 GregClow (2645) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - FEB 21, 2010
Bottle from a Leffe giftpack. Ruby-amber with a creamy off-white head. Aroma is fairly generic as far as strong Belgian ales go - notes of yeast, dried fruit, spice, all pleasant but very nondescript. Flavour is similarly enjoyable - nice candi sugar sweetness, a yeasty/spicy tang, mild boozy heat and pleasing bitterness in the finish - but ultimately, it’s not an especially memorable beer.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Borup (2639) - Albertslund, DENMARK - FEB 13, 2007
Bottle. Dark amber colour with a short lasting off-white head. Aroma and flavour of fruit, malt, caramel and some alcohol, but not as much as expected.
