Sampled this one at the Pub St. Alexandre in Quebec City. Poured a deep amber colour with red highlights. Very beautiful. The head was medium with patchy coating. The aromas had apple scent with belgian yeast. Wow ! What a smooth brew for a dark strong Belgian beer. Apples in the start with dark fruits in the mild finish. Also mild bitterness with a smooth semi-dry aftertaste. Clean mouthfeel. Overall, loved this beer that is refreshing with extreme drinkability.

Bottle from Nelson Wines, Merton. Reddish-brown pour with a beige head. Caramel, sour cherry, blackcurrant aromas. Nice, fruity angle. Fruity flavour angle. Lots of Morello cherries, a bit of cloves, licorice, blackcurrant and sweet spices. Smooth. Not bad.

Bottle from a small grocer in Rome. Quite satisfying big-flavoured strong Belgian ale. Poured a bottle-brown colour with a short but lasting head. The nose is heavily alcoholic but with plenty of fruit and a hint of toast! Full-bodied and almost port-like in intensity. Ripe cherries and spices on the tongue, with hints of whisky and then a rummy bitter finish. Complex and satisfying.

Small light brown head and dark red-brown body. Nice aroma; apples, raisins, rum, little spice. Smooth and soft palate. Tastes of less than the aroma makes you anticipate. Little spicy-bitter finish.

Bottle. Dark brown with ruby hints, thin off-white head. Malty and fruity, winter fruits, sherbert, caramel and strong nose. Mouth is more malty and caramel, some alcohol, sharpness, then some bitter relaxed palate. OK, good, little sweet.
