3.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 npdempse (932) - St. Petersburg, Florida, USA - JUL 25, 2002
Slightly roasty, malty aroma. Color is red to brown. Flavor is initially inviting, pleasantly sweet and malty, but finishes with an odd acrid bitterness and a pronounced alcohol flavor. Sweetness becomes cloying over the course of the beer.
2.8 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 tomer (923) - Rishon Le Zion, ISRAEL - SEP 5, 2007
0.33L bottle. faint aromas of malt, small head, clear brown colour with red taints.
Extremly bitter at first, but as the beer warms up, sweet flavours of caramel and stewed fruits appear. The finish is sour, short and not too appealing.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Davros (919) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - APR 23, 2009
UPDATED: MAY 14, 2011 Pale amber/ruby. Inch-high off-white head fades to a thing covering. Good lacing.
Typical Belgian yeast aroma, some white rum, lots of phenols, then some banana, nutmeg and cinnamon and a fair whack of sweet malt. Remarkably like the dubbel I brewed the other day.
Flavour is mostly alcohol, some fruity malt, doughy yeast and some lemon. The alcohol and high sweetness combine to make a cloying finish.
Loads of alcoholic heat on the palate and too much carbonation.
Used to think Leffe was the be all and end all of intense expensive beers. Thank god I got over the stage.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 JesseM (918) - Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario, CANADA - DEC 25, 2009
UPDATED: DEC 26, 2009 330mL bottle from a Leffe gift pack I got for Christmas. Poured into sweet branded glass it came with. Nice copperish red, with a small white head. The aroma is very pleasant, nice floral quality to it with some candi sugar and fruity esters (peach, cherry, etc.). Flavour starts out quite malty, then just sweet from the candi sugar, then the esters come in and are rounded out by some minerally bitterness and slight bite from the booze (that is not cloying). On the whole seems reminiscent of a candy apple. This is the best Leffe beer I’ve ever had, and I enjoyed the others I’ve had despite being technically macro’s. Glad to have another bottle, not overly complex but mildly subtle and very pleasant drinking on Christmas day.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 scotty (889) - SCOTLAND - OCT 5, 2005
A very disappointing attempt from Leffe. Short lived, both on aroma and in flavour. Blonde & brune are much better, OK I appreciate this is a different style, but it delivered very little. Fine Wine Shop, Musselburgh.
