3.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Swaroga (356) - Brussels, BELGIUM - OCT 28, 2011
33cl bottle. Pours a brown burgundy yet clear with a small grayish head. Nose : Spicy (pepper, cloves, licorice and cinnamon) ! Dried fruits, mostly plums. Oranges. Alcohol. Sip : Mouthful and tingling. Spices are strong in this one. All of the nose aromas are there with a multiplied presence. Smoky and dried fruit bitter end. Warming with alcohol. Overall this beer isn’t an everyday beer for me. If they asked me to choose between a hot spicy wine and this one I could have a dilemma. Otherwise this beer is interesting winter brew and I just satisfied my curiosity and won’t be coming back there. Erf, I have impression to feel spice powder on my tongue...
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 Dragonblaze99 (354) - Greater London, ENGLAND - FEB 26, 2002
Sweet and sour taste, with a note of tropical fruits and spices, especially banana. Finishes off rather flat. Pretty well balanced, with no strong alcohol tang, though this is a fairly strong ale. A pleasant beer.
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 vipinvelp (352) - Velp, NETHERLANDS - MAY 14, 2012
Ruby color with small white head. Just a lot of fruit taste, but some bitterness in after taste. (Velp 201202)
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Mjollnir (335) - Canberra, AUSTRALIA - DEC 23, 2009
330mL bottle. Pours a clear amber brown with a slightly off-white head, leaving a fair amount of lacing. Yeasty aroma with berries and a bit of spice behind it. Some roasty flavours early on, more fruity when it’s warmed up a bit, fairly sweet, mildly sour, the alcohol is apparent but not excessively so at lower temperatures. Medium bodied, could be a little less heavily carbonated, sour finish giving way to bitterness.
3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 kevinsenn (335) - Waterloo, Ontario, CANADA - FEB 11, 2011
Nice brown colour with a sweet fruity aroma. Starts off sweet and spicy, finishes with alcohol notes and some bitterness. Very nice strong Belgian ale.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 SeanMacGC (330) - Dublin, IRELAND - NOV 18, 2008
Bottle, 33cl. Pours translucent dark mahogany, with short-lived off-white head, some lacing. Cherry, malt and yeast on the nose, and very sweet on the palate, too sweet in fact. A shadow of a beer in comparison to a genuine secondarily fermented beer, and added sugar is no substitute.
4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 Eirikur (328) - hafnarfjordur, ICELAND - MAR 19, 2003
Colour: Yellow-Brown mystic colour.
Taste: Strong taste with strong fruity hints and a rich bouquet, ahh sooo nice.
2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 sdriessen (318) - Dunedin, NEW ZEALAND - JAN 19, 2009
Sweet, apple-like aroma with some malt.
Quite basic, and quite boring. More bitterness than the other Leffe’s I’ve tried, which is nice. Some berry fruits, like raspberry of strawberry.
Sweet and boring, but nice enough to drink!
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Jade (311) - AUSTRALIA - MAY 4, 2011
Dark but clear ruby colouring. Quite a bit of carbonation and a biege head. Sweet, almost cloying aroma of hops. Bitter and strong like most belgian ales. Very nice.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 kjc51478 (308) - Cologne, GERMANY - OCT 14, 2010
Dark appearance with small head. Very pronounced hoppy flavor with chocolate and spice notes. Not enough balance for me though.
