a sim rate:
The aroma is everything with this beer, and its perfumey scent makes each sip taste very sugary and sweet. A great, almost fruity, aftertaste. In my opnion, it’s the best Leffe beer!
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 Bov (7098) - Bienne, SWITZERLAND - NOV 1, 2001
UPDATED: MAR 1, 2005 clear red-amber colour, creamy head and a nice lacing, caramel and grassy aroma, vegetal, slightly toasted, a touch of licorice, full-bodied, dry and bitter finish with reminiscence of fruits and malt
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 chriso (7062) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - JAN 9, 2004
Bottled. Amber/tawny colour. Rather odd candyfloss/bubblegum aromas when first poured but this settles down after standing for a few minutes and making way for wine/sherry notes with some volatile acidity. Sweet malt on the tongue but balanced by a sourish/bitter edge developing towards the finish. Surprisingly dry aftertaste. Not a bad beer - definitely the best of the Leffe family - but rather straightforward for a beer of this strength.

Bottle: Amber, clear, lively carbonation, small, but stable creamy beige head; a subtle fruitiness in the by caramel and coriander dominated nose; moderate sweet, slightly bitter flavour, medium bodied, sweet-caramelly finish with a subtle fruitiness and some spices around. Pleasant, not too complex.........

33 cl bottle. Ruby tinted, dark brown beer. Aroma is spicy and yeasty. Some heavy spice, leather, dusty, and quite fruity. Apricot, plum, and some flowery aromas. Flavour is quite sweet, but the yeasty spice and fruit keep it well balanced.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Lubiere (6707) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - DEC 23, 2003
UPDATED: JUN 18, 2006 Wonderful deep copper to brown in colour with thin head. Notes of spices like coriander or cloves in the nose with some warmth. I get some liquor aromas with some sweet maple. Deep malt taste with some spices, with some pears, and again this nice caramelly rum flavour. Good bitterness which coats the mouth in a pleasant way. Good stuff. 7-4-7-4-15 Bottle at l’autre oeil, june 16, 2006. Hazy red copper ale with a thick big bubbled off white head. Herbal malts with orange peels and coriander, thym and grass. In mouth, a rich alcohol warms the mouth, leading to a crisp malt, light herbal hops. Rich bodied. 8-4-8-4-15
