UPDATED: JUN 18, 2006 Wonderful deep copper to brown in colour with thin head. Notes of spices like coriander or cloves in the nose with some warmth. I get some liquor aromas with some sweet maple. Deep malt taste with some spices, with some pears, and again this nice caramelly rum flavour. Good bitterness which coats the mouth in a pleasant way. Good stuff. 7-4-7-4-15
Bottle at l’autre oeil, june 16, 2006. Hazy red copper ale with a thick big bubbled off white head. Herbal malts with orange peels and coriander, thym and grass. In mouth, a rich alcohol warms the mouth, leading to a crisp malt, light herbal hops. Rich bodied. 8-4-8-4-15

Bouteille de 330 ml dégustée au Saint-Bock (Montréal, QC). Arôme: Odeur de caramel et de petits fruits foncés. Apparence: La couleur est ambrée foncée avec une faible densité de bulle. Présence d’un moyen col mousseux et d’une large dentelle sur le verre. Saveur: Goût de caramel sucré et de petits fruits foncés avec une pointe d’épices. Durée moyenne de l’arrière goût. Palette: Le corps est moyen avec une texture légèrement vineuse. Moyenne effervescence en bouche. Présence de pruneaux et d’épices en arrière goût. (Rating #1150)

Thanks to pineypower for this bottle. Pours a deep amber/copper color, with a tan head. Aromas are sweet malt, brown sugar, with some yeast and spice, too. Flavor is spice, brown sugar, and a little bit fruity. Very nice, but a bit too sweet.

A very good beer. Full of flavour and very tasty! The fine fruity and slightly toffeeish texture is really pleasant.

UPDATED: DEC 16, 2003 Aroma of plum & alcohol with a slight bit of metal. Clear dark red moving toward brown with a large pouring head that reduces but remains and leaves lacing. Malty with small amounts of preserved fruit and bitter hop aftertaste which compliments and shows where I got the metallic aroma. Fairly highly carbonated.

Deep garnet, almost brown body. Beautiful head and lace. Aroma brings you yeast, caramel, fruit (cherries) and some hops too. A bit of alcohol warmth in the taste. Sweet but dry, a slightly bitter almond finish. Not quite as complex, thick or smooth as the élite belgians strong ales, but still a balanced and enjoyable brew. In Italy, this one could make the "Top 10 easily accessible beers".
