3.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 npdempse (932) - St. Petersburg, Florida, USA - JUL 25, 2002
Slightly roasty, malty aroma. Color is red to brown. Flavor is initially inviting, pleasantly sweet and malty, but finishes with an odd acrid bitterness and a pronounced alcohol flavor. Sweetness becomes cloying over the course of the beer.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 brewboy (152) - AUSTRALIA - MAY 5, 2003
Dark amber-brown hue with a thin head. Malt, caramel, fruits and nuts can be smelt as with the tasting. I was expecting more subtle flavours but there seem too many competing flavours here. Overall a tasty ale, but not the best from the Leffe stable.

Thought the aroma was of cherry cinnamon and malt, reddy colour and a good head with lacing, more fruit on the taste and and a chalky mouthfeel.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 sayravai (4548) - Helsinki, FINLAND - DEC 19, 2004
UPDATED: JUL 23, 2007 (Bottled) Hazy dark amber with a quite large, foamy, tight and slightly tanned, lacy head. Toffee-caramely, slightly sweet and sour aroma. The flavor is grainy-toffee-malty, a bit sweet, alcoholic and vegetably, but remains somewhat pleasant. I had so much nicer memories of this...
(Bottled, 8.6% ABV, rated 12/19/2004, was 8-5-7-4-15=3.9) Dark walnut/red color with a largeish, foamy and tight, lacy head. Very nice, deep red color against a candle light. Sweet, toffeeish, popcorn aroma with fruit, some berries and a hint of alcohol. Quite malty and fruity, sweet flavor with caramel-syrup and - in the finish - a hint of alcohol. Quite full-bodied, very smooth and slippery, somewhat sugary and foamy-carbonated palate. A quite enjoyable, sweet and strong ale, but not very complex. The flavor is a bit empty and disappointing.

Spiritus fruit malt aroma with clear red brown colour. Fruit malt flavour with smooth flat palate.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Stew41 (1461) - Woodend, AUSTRALIA - AUG 27, 2004
Pours a fluffy head but disapates quickly. Chocolate brown hue, ever so slightly cloudy. Quite lifted nose with some sweet, spicy almost cinammon notes. Nice mouthfeel, plenty of fizz early but disappears at the back. Fairly sweet palate, thickens a little but nevery cloys. Good length and carries the 8.2% with ease. No heat to speak of. Like the stablemate Vieille Cuvee a sipper (ie one bottle a session) drink but to my mind a better drop.

Aroma is spicry and fruity. pours light brown with a red hue, with a big head that leaves a good amount of lacing. Flavor is malty and dry with some spiciness, and raisins. easying drinking mouthfeel. More hops and complexity would be nice... but by no means a bad beer.
