Bottle sample at a tasting at the Beer & Beyond shop. Thanks beerandbeyond. Deep golden color with an orange hue and a white head. Yeasty aroma of fruity esters, quite a bit of banana and clove and a bit of malt. Sweetish fruity flavor with esters, a bit of spices, some caramel, a bit of honey and a bit of alcohol. Medium-bodied.

Bottle sample. Clear Deep golden color with a huge white head. Spicy and floral nose, with light apricot notes and some esters. Fruity flavors, sweet banana, clove, yeast and low bitterness. Medium bodied and refreshing, some alcohol is present but overall OK.

Copper coloured with golden highlights, transparent, column carbonation and a frothy head. Typical wholesome bready yeasty Leffe smell. Coriander, white pepper. Rotten fruit, apples. Maybe somewhat sweeter, more alcoholic than the usual Leffe. Dry saltish taste with a bitter sour finish. White pepper and yeast with slight hoppy twang. A Leffe with more attitude and hops.

Bottle at CBB. Deep golden color wiht a high, thin head. Fruity Leffe-like nose, honey and biscuits. Sweet flavor, light pepper, fruity and creamy. Possibly a bit less cloying than the regular but not really that different.

33 cl. bottle from a local supermarket @ home – “a masterpiece by the masterbrewer of Leffe” – uses the word master (sounds even more grandiose in Dutch trust me) a bit too much, comes in a fancy bottle and comes from Leffe – I prepared myself for something dull but I was wrong, this was not enjoyable in quite fascinating ways. Appearance is that of burned sugar amber, as clear as clear can be, bubbles visibly rising, synthetic / fake looking head. Smells of grains, rubbing alcohol, herbally sweet, wheat, lots of spelt and alternative grains, vegetable, pumpkin (the outside parts),… hmmm. Taste is sweet herbal, pumpking flesh, other grains, spelt-like, vegetable, meaty, sweetness, caramel,…. what the hell, really? Very fizzy, fascinating but I do find this quite appalling – does this bear similarities with the regular one? It has been quite a while since I had those but I remember those being more palatable than this. Grades mainly for weirdness. As Joris says in his review: “Typical AB-InBev (or any other giant): technically reproachless, yet utterly unenjoyable.”

"Stolen" frome Elisabetta and Manuele’s fridge in Bruxelles... Oh well, I did put some in :D. And thanks! An improved version of the Blonde or something new altogether? Let’s see. Full old gold body, clear, somewhat lasting loud white head. Aah yes, the Leffe spice is here in the aroma. Vague apple and malt too. Ok, less sweet than the regular, drier. Vague lime, chalk. Definitely slightly citric. Bitterish finish, vague, light glue. Balanced, more so than the original. What the regular should be I reckon. For a macro, thumbs up. Slightly overcarbonated though.

Blonde style Belgian beer, full flavoured and yeasty, similar to the regular blonde but a bit stronger

Bottled. Clear golden color, medium lasting white head. Aroma is quite spicy, slight grassy hop. Quite like the regular Leffe Blonde. Medium sweetness in taste, some caramelly malt, slight bitter. Bit sticky on the palate. It’s decent Leffe quality, but nothing spectacular. Not that I was expecting any out-of-the-box thinking, but still I had a glimmer of hope upon reading ’masterpiece from the masterbrewers’. Missed opportunity.
