Hefesüßer Geruch, moderate Gewürznoten und ein Beiklang von Metall. Süßhefiger Auftakt. Intensiv gewürzige Mitte. Abgang gewürzig, Koriander, Malz, staubig. Etwas streng, aber in Ordnung.

In Leuven (can’t get this in the U.S., I think?). Pretty nice pour from bottle into Duvel glass. I’ve had a few bottles of this and I don’t really remember this, but now that I’m really reviewing it, it has kind of a strange aroma--arguably rubbery or smokey or bacony. An alcoholic funk lurks underneath. Color is translucent bronze. Flavor is a bit too sweet, a bit too hot, a bit too thin. It’s not a bad beer, just a little heavy-footed and uninspiring.

Bottle at Belgian Beer Weekend, Brussels. Has a clear light amber colour with a light beige and small head. A bit sweetish aromas of some berries, wood, pale malt and some hay. Sweet and fruity flavours with wood and leather. Slick mouthfeel, and a light bitterness. A good and sweet ale.

Bottle from Bier Paleis in Brugge. Pours darkish gold with a transient fizzy white head. Smells a bit like a malt liquor with banana ester. Med body. Fizzy carb. There’s clove type spice, a bit of banana, light malt. But all together the flavor packs quite a punch. Something like a hefe yeast gone wild with malt? The flavor is firm through the finish. It would go great with ham.

Bottle. It pours a clear, dark orange-golden boddy and a dense, small, light beige head. Lots of banana and bubble-gum on the nose, some wheat and alcohol blends in. The flavor is rather similar, but with a nice bitterness chiming in. Effervescent on the palate, medium body. Typical Leffe yeastyness in the finish, along with bubble gum, banana and fruityness. Far from impressive, but considering it’s an InBev beer, it’s nice. 120915
