Bottle 750ml. Aroma is straw, yeast and hops. It also has slight hints of spices, orange and maybe bubblegum. It pours a dark amber with a thick white long lasting head. Taste wise its uncomplicated but pleasant straw yeast and a slightly sweet smokey finish. Maybe its the fancy packaging but this, for me, knocks the socks off the standard Leffe Blonde. A rather nice Belgian ale this.

UPDATED: DEC 3, 2012 Vlokkige schuimkraag. Helder goud bier. Iets bitterder en zuurder (citrus) dan de reguliere blond van leffe, maar ook minder vol van smaak en minder complex. Metalige nasmaak. Voegt derhalve weinig toe.

Bottle brought from Belgium by a colleague at work... The alcohol burn at the end got to me, but still a pretty good beer.

from bottle. the leffe royale pours a clear orange colour and a two-finger rocky head that quickly disappears. quite sweet yeasty aroma - banana and dough - paired with some citric hoppy notes and a rather unpleasent metallic note in the background. sweet grainy and fruity flavours - some pear and some banana, yet not very complex. hints of maltiness in the background. creamy mouthfeel and average carbonation. way less decent than the ordinary leffe...

Fancy bottle, big words. But dissapointing and unnecessary. It’s drinkable, but far less enjoyable than the regular blond, which is one of the most popular belgian beers in the Netherlands and probably the most popular blond. So why make this beer!? Taste is bread, hay, not a lot of hop or yeast.

33 cl bottle, Paris, France via Monoprix. Medium gold, thick frothy head. Spiced honey aroma, some cereal grain and floral nuttiness. Quite sweet, thick, with a strong herbal and alcohol finish.

Bottle at home with Lyoli on the fifth year anniversary of when we met (Halloween). Pours cloudy gold with a strong, white foam head. Big yeasty nose, lots of bubblegum, some dough, orange zest. Medium sweet flavor with bready malts, more dough, some yeast, dry grains, some light bitter grass and citrus peel. Medium to full bodied with averge, creamy carbonation. Fairly sweet to finish but also has some dry bite, yeast, bread, bubblegum, straw, lemon. It’s decent.

33 cl. bottle @ home, bought @ Albert Heijn. Old yellow with a nice white head. Fruity yeasty aroma. Taste is likewise with a hint of orange and some mild bitterness but overall still too sweet. It’s a more robust version of the Leffe Blonde but not very exciting either.

12,9,10,10,13,10 - 10,20 - 26/10/12
