3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 RichardGretton (3759) - Leicestershire, ENGLAND - MAR 10, 2002
It may look like darkened orange juice, but it is definately drinkable. It has a bitter and sour fruit taste that grows on you with every gulp. An average beer that is not as good as some of the other Leffe variaties.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Gusler (2654) - Tucson, Arizona, USA - MAR 4, 2002
Cloudy orange color, large creamy off white head and sheets of lace. Aroma of fresh fruit, malts, citrus, as the start is malt sweet, the middle thin, the finish hop spicy, dry, acidic, and a nice ’Belly’ warming feel from the hign ABV. A good tripel, not the best, but certainly not the worst I’ve tried.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Caton (160) - Sydney, AUSTRALIA - MAR 3, 2002
I thought this beer would of had more to it, it might of just been the moment. Had the sweet strong flavours but just laked a final punch. I will have to re-rate.
2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 Ernest (5187) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - FEB 25, 2002
Head is initially large, frothy, white, mostly diminishing. Body is murky light amber. Aroma is moderately hoppy (citrus - lemon), lightly malty (cookie), moderately yeasty (dough, soap), with notes of coriander, bubble gum, clove, and alcohol. Flavor is moderately sweet, moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Medium to full body, dry and syrupy texture, lively carbonation, moderately astringent, moderately alcoholic. Main complaint is that it’s too acidic/astringent, and the aroma has some soapy and alcoholic elements that I’d prefer were absent. Best as it approaches room temp.
