Looks good with a cloudy amber body topped by a large floppy white head. Carbonation is vigorous. Yeast is very evident in the taste, with flavours of apple, banana and clove with floral notes in the background. Smooth malts hold the whole thing together. Finishes quite dry with a dried fruit aftertaste. High alcohol is a bit dangerous, but a good example of the style.

Bottle from local Sake Marche. Very fruity aroma, with overripe peaches, some caramel, and yeast. Hazy tan-yellow, small head, good lace. Full mouth of sweetness; mid palate mellows, with a bit of alc. warmth, and a little butterscotch; final stretches out a bit and then fades nicely. Medium-thick body; Very nice, overall, but not a great tripel. I think that Leffe brews either do not travel well or perhaps do not age well. This was probably a lot better fresh and new.

Foffern (732) - Bodø, NORWAY - SEP 14, 2012
Bottle at Le Becasse, Brussels. Pours a very hazy and dull yellow colour with a compact beige coffee-like head. Fresh aromas of belgian yeast, citrus, hay and pale malt. Powerful flavour with more spices, fruityness, yeast and some alcohol. Has a soft and slick mouthfeel, and a below medium bitterness. A good classic tripel.

Bottle with Lyoli in Brussels. Pours cloudy gold with a large, frothy white head. Lots of sugar dough, yeast and suggestions of alcohol in the nose. Big sweet flavour, lots of sugary, basic doughy white bread, some candi sugar, prevalent alcohol. Full bodied with average carbonation. Fairly hot and boozy on the finish and mostly one-dimensional with still more sugary dough, Belgian yeast, candi sugar. There are also notes of baked beans floating around here, and ripe orange citrus. But yeah, at times the alcohol is like a punch in the face.

0.3l bottle. This one pours a cloudy deep golden-yellow body with a massive fluffy and near everlasting just off-white head. It has a nose with Belgian yeast, straws, wheat, orange zest, cloves, some boozy alcohol and mild spicy. It in really many ways smells a bit like a mixture of a hefe, wit and a tripel. I like this. The taste is more tripel. It’s mildly sweet and malty, candy sugar, ripe zesty fruits. It has a good oily mouthfeel with a average carbonation level, some hints of banana sweetness in the finish and tones of white sugar and alcohol in the aftertaste. The best "Leffe" I’ve had so far. 02.08.2012

A nice appearance for a tripel. A complex taste with hints of orange, citrus and herbs. A bit more body and this beer would have been perfect.

A-- Poured a honey gold color with a bright white head of 1 finger that did slowly fade away. Little to no carbonation shown on the glass. No real lacing on the glass. S-- A floral yeast smell with honey in this as well. A bit of an alcoholic nose to this but not very big. Once warm it does become a bit more herbal and the yeast smell is more defined. T-- Kind of a lemon cake taste to this. Different. Has some lemon and some sweetness mixed in with the yeast taste. Still has a floral quality to it. Honey is present as pretty dry as well. M-- Good carbonation in the mouth and pretty lively I though. Finishes quite dry. Very alcoholic in the mouth though and got a burn in each swallow. O-- Not bad but not great
