Yeasty, bready nose that just says ’I’m a Belgian’. Wonderful dark amber color. The taste is sweet, slightly bitter on the roof of the mouth towards the end, but finishes with a sugary sweetness that remains on your lips for a few seconds. Overall a rich, long profile. The maltiness also has hints of black currants. This is a solid Beglian that is fantastically enjoyable. Best as a dessert beer by itself.

Re-rate: much better than i remeber, just perhaps a bit too sweet, decent body, but not too over the top with flavour, but its nice enough. reminded me of pauwell kwak but not as good.

Pours thick and orange brown. Fruity aroma, full bodied, but overly sweet for my liking. Lacks the complexity of the better examples of the style.

What a great drug! Fluffy head that belies the thickness of the creamy, spicy beer. Stewed plums, strawberries cinnamon and bready or shortcake flavours. Went spazzo on the 8.1% for 20 minutes. (skulled it). Will skull again! Bravo.

Dark garnet colour with thin but fluffy white head. Fruit (plums?) features prominently in the flavour. Alcohol is well disguised. Agreeable fruit sourness and mild bitter aftertaste. Strong contast in flavour quality with the Radieuse.

true to form, this is a fairly bland, approachable, drinkable beer. the beer’s colour is almost precisely the colour of a brown beer bottle - translucent copper brown, with good fine creamy head. very faint fruity, spicy aroma - pleasant but not very striking. the flavour is more mellow than the aroma suggests, with slightly sticky chocolate, strawberry shortcake, and orange juice. finish is pretty shortlived and slightly peppery. overall, pretty impressive for a massmarket beer - it hides the alcohol well and goes down smoothly enough - just a bit low on character, and a little bit soapy in texture.

A real thick, heavy beer. Very tasty and definitely one to enjoy slowly

UPDATED: FEB 23, 2005 clear dark reddish colour, fine and compact head, nice lacing, slightly toasted nose, aroma of licorice and caramel with a touch of alcohol, some sweetness, robust malt body, creamy mouthfeel with a correct finishing bitterness, the aftertaste is malty, slightly fruity and quite long
