3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. 8,2% on the label. Great aroma of berries and malt. Beautiful dark amber color with an impressive, sturdy head. Flavor is rich and multi-facetted. Alcohol is quite noticeable though. But all in all an amazing beer.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Brown w/golden edges. The key words to describe the aroma are "soapy" and "raspberries", along with vague hints of other fruits. Breadiness and malts in the flavor, somewhat Chimay bleuish. More prominent cherries as it warms up.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: OCT 26, 2005 Tasted 03/05/2005. 330ml bottle from New World Metro, Wellington.
Similar to the Radieuse, so much so that I wondered if I had a mis-labbelled Radieuse. Pours a bright, reddish amber colour with an off-white, creamy, head and light lacing. Sweet boiled candy and sour fruit are suggested in the nose with some spice and alcohol evident. Sweet boiled candy and alcohol front flavour is balanced smoothly with spices and wood at the back. Soft, smooth mouthfeel. Again, very pleasant. The word "fortified" is mentioned by a drinking companion, it’s not far off the mark.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: JAN 8, 2006 (Bottle 33 cl) Beautiful reddish brown beer, nice full and stable head. Very spicy and sophisticated with enough bitterness to balance the sweetness. Believe this is my Leffe favourite together with "Radieuse". My version was 7,8% ABV. 270593

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Unfortunately I tasted this after Chimay Blue followed by the white. Leffe does not seem to balance the high alcohol of its strong ales anywhere near as well as others it seems. Looks fantastic, a wonderful clear deep strawberry amber with a good dense head and plenty of lacing. Aroma is a little spicy, a little fruity, with a lot of alcohol apparent. Taste is a more subtle and balanced than the Radieuse but it still finishes very dry and alcoholic. Mouth is light and fluffy, seems to be quite complementary. Wondering whether the Leffe strong ales could do with some secondary fermentation to improve balance.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
This one turned out to be a right gem of a beer, possibly the finest from this Conglomerate owned Brewery. Tasted from the bottle and poured into a Delirium Tremens tulip, a wonderful big beige head formed atop a clear ruby-teak body. The fine carbonation held the head on and laced well down the glass. Spicy and tart hops initially dominated the aroma, with candi sugar, plums, yeast and burnt caramel coming through as it warmed. A carbonic bite obscured things a little at first (I served it too cold) but this waned as it warmed. Rich, well rounded flavours of tart fruits, plums, cherries and cranberries, light candi sugar sweetness upfront, a generous malt feel, with a mild huskiness in the back and a warming ’Sherry’ swallow. Medium big bodied, lightly carbonated, mildly sweet throughout, and very well balanced. Not sessionable, but a decent drop for a cold winter’s night.

Bottle, at GB.
Redbrown with large off-white head, mostly lasting, nice lacings. Aroma of coriander and fruit. Flavor moderate bitter og light sweet, well balanced. Long finish. Medium to full body, creamy, lively carbonated. The strenght is first felt at last!

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: OCT 26, 2005 The best of Leffe’s dark beers. Poured a teak colour with reddish tinges. 2cm tan head. The yeasty aroma also has some intriguing sour grape characters and spices. The 8.1% alchol is well to the fore in the tasting but is much better integrated than in the Tripel and Radieuse. This is full-bodied and hoppy, with a restrained sherry-like finish. Cherries and spices dominate the initial flavour palette. A satisfying nightcap. (Bottle)

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Cellared two years. Dark copper with firm beige head.
Spicy aroma with notes of apple, pineapple, merengue and cheese.
Spicy flavor with notes of pepper, almonds, cream, fruit and plastic. Decent bitterness and very belgian in style. The best one of the Leffes
