The authentic Belgian abbey beer: Leffe Vieille Cuvee has a creamy and very aromatic taste.

Bottled. Dark ruby colour, big head. Fruity aroma, with a yeasty tone. Big, creamy mouthfeel, bit spicy with good amount of hops. Fruity notes(grapey), somewhat oily body. Not very long finish.

A Mes rate: Looks great. Similar to the Radiuse deep ruby. Shame about the head. Fruity and full bodied slightly spicy but a little too sweet. As Leffes go, it’s the best one. As beers go it’s ok, nothing more.

UPDATED: SEP 25, 2006 Poured a dark amber, with a generous head, that left a decent amount of lacing. Peppery aroma, with some caramel and malt. Upon tasting the aromas were more obvious and a creamy palate was realised. Slightly bitter, especially at the finish. This beer grew on me throughout, and not all of this is due to the influence of the alcohol, which is initially a bit OTT.

33 cl bottle best before 13/09/06. Dark brown beer with a thin off-white head. Dark malty spicy aroma, especially of clove, cardamon and coriander. Bready aroma as well. Flavour is malty and chewy with some dark fruits, plum/prune and loads of yeasty spice and some added coriander. Nice brew.

Pours a beautiful ruby brown with a thick and persistant creamy off-white head. The aroma reminds of bananas, berries and caramel. With each sip beautiful thin lacing covers the whole glass. The mouthfeel is rich and creamy and reveals a great blend of flavors that hide the alcohol (8.2%) fairly well. The roasted malts, yeast and spices become more noticeable as it warms up. The aftertaste is bitter, but not unpleasantly so. Overall a good brew, my favorite from Leffe, so far.

Bottle. 8,2% on the label. Great aroma of berries and malt. Beautiful dark amber color with an impressive, sturdy head. Flavor is rich and multi-facetted. Alcohol is quite noticeable though. But all in all an amazing beer.

Bottle. Aroma has a hint of bonbon. Dark golden colour. Malty flavour and nice full mouthfeel.

Bottle. Brown w/golden edges. The key words to describe the aroma are "soapy" and "raspberries", along with vague hints of other fruits. Breadiness and malts in the flavor, somewhat Chimay bleuish. More prominent cherries as it warms up.

UPDATED: OCT 26, 2005 Tasted 03/05/2005. 330ml bottle from New World Metro, Wellington. Similar to the Radieuse, so much so that I wondered if I had a mis-labbelled Radieuse. Pours a bright, reddish amber colour with an off-white, creamy, head and light lacing. Sweet boiled candy and sour fruit are suggested in the nose with some spice and alcohol evident. Sweet boiled candy and alcohol front flavour is balanced smoothly with spices and wood at the back. Soft, smooth mouthfeel. Again, very pleasant. The word "fortified" is mentioned by a drinking companion, it’s not far off the mark.
