On tap @ Sister’s Pub. Profumo di caramello, di biscotti al burro e un po’ vinosi. Schiuma bianca decismanete cremosa perlage finissimo. Birra color rame, quasi borgogna. Evidente la carbonatazione. Il gusto è dolciastro, secco, ricorda il mosto d’uva e il caramello di zucchero di canna.
Alla spina è veramente molto carbonata, pure troppo, meglio in bottiglia se potete scegliere. Finale lungo, appiccisoso e dolciastro. Secco l’aftertaste.

Bottle. Deep red-orange, foamy head. Strong sweet nose of caramel malt, toffee apple, some cough drop. Light to medium carbonation, with creamy mouthfeel. Sweet and deceptively deep, though the alcohol is quite prominent. Delicious on a rainy afternoon.

Pours copper color with a medium head. Aroma of caramel, some ripe fruits, hay and yeast. Flavor is the same with some toffee and spice notes. Decent.

Versata produce una schiuma cremosa a grana fine, con colore tendente al nocciola e di ottima persistenza. Il colore è un ambrato carico che in controluce rileva riflessi rossicci e mogano. L’aroma presenta note intense di cereali e frutta secca, tuttavia è possibile però percepire anche i lieviti e venature eteree.
In bocca l’attacco è subito alcolico (gli 8,2 gradi si sentono subito e nel corpo la sensazione è quella di essere avvolti da una coperta calda) che viene prontamente bilanciato dal gusto fruttato. La bocca viene invasa da frutta rossa matura, uvetta al liquore e caramello. Il retrogusto è molto lungo con un amaro non fastidioso. Anche se le Leffe non sono più prodotte in abbazia e birre di questo stile se ne possono trovare di migliori, l’esperienza che si prova bevendo la "Vielle Cuvee" è assolutamente positiva e appagante.

Clear dark amber ale colour with no sediments; Moderate to small head and beige foam which fades quickly; Full body, oily with very good lacing and lively carbonation throughout; Aroma of malt, intense dark fruits (plum, fig and raisin), with floral aroma becomes apparent when it gets warmer; Smooth and creamy palate reminiscent of Chimay Blue; Nice sweet taste of cookie and blackcurrant, with smoky, spicy, mild and subtle hop bitterness and alcohol all nicely intertwined together. The alcohol kicks in very slowly and gradually after 30 minutes in a euphoric manner. Slightly dry aftertaste.
Comments: Like Hoegaarden’s Forbidden Fruit, this one has complex and exotic aroma, palate and taste to be one of the top dogs in BSA. Its creaminess and smooth palate is very enjoyable just like Chimay Blue and Tripel Karmeliet, and not many BSAs are able to deliver that joyful feeling. Like Forbidden Fruit, its absence from official website’s lineup doesn’t mean it will be phased out anytime soon because it’s well established and liked. This is another fine example of macros can do wonders if they want to. Highly recommended.
