COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Aged 8 months in bourbon and rye barrels. Excellent as is. Age it for a year and make it epic.

Nearly black in color, nice brown head. Lots of whiskey notes, brownies, light roast, charred oak, very cream. Very good.

Tap at Capitol Beer in Sacramento, CA. Pours black with a tan head. Aroma is bourbon and dark malt. Med _ body. Flavor is bourbon, chocolate, vanilla, dark treacle. Finishes like that. Also it seems to want to go dry, but never makes it. Very tasty.

On tap at Capitol Beer & Tap Room. Pours near black with a nice tan head and a bourbon and treacle aroma. There is a full-bodied slightly sour dark molasses flavor with a little vanilla and a dry bitter finish.

Very solid, though not incredibly complex. Covers the abv very well and imparts a nice barrel flavor and aroma without overdoing it. Lots of cocoa and roasted malt and some licorice still come through."

BlackHaddock (4924) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - JUL 29, 2014
14th July 2014 at the Clay Oven, Irvine CA beer tasting with Indian food. The Left Coast people only had one bottle of this to try so I had to have this early in the evening: loved it. The base Stout is a fine drink but this was stronger in alcohol and flavour, richer and sweeter, mellow in fact. Just a lovely beer, end of.
