COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
At Left Coast Brewing Co. we pride ourselves on being one of the pioneers of Double IPA style craft beer. This hop monster uses Premium American 2– Row and a touch of light crystal malt to create a solid malt foundation. Five different Hop Varieties are used in the Hop Juice. It spends two weeks dry hopping in fermenter contributing to its great hop aroma. Starts out sweet and finishes with the crisp bitterness of a Double IPA. This drinkable blend will have you HOPPING till nights end.

Draft sample. Hazy orange in colour with medium carbonation. Aromas are of caramel, mandarin oranges, and latex paint. Flavors are more of the same sweet caramel, sweet orange and paint, along with notes or white pepper, booze, and grassy bitterness. Something is not quite right here.

A nice orangey color with a one finger head. Aroma is citrus, piney and a slight sweetness. Taste is predominantly citrusy. A nice beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Caramel nose. Taste is toffee, caramel, diluted bitterness, honey. Beer is syrupy, honey and bitter orange peel on finish. Tastes fine, not characteristics not what I’m looking for in a double ipa.

From bottle. Pours a clear orange with almost no head and no lacing. Taste is caramel malts. Taste is caramel with some citrus, but this is a very malty IPA. Bitter finish. Very light carbonation.

On tap poured a clear dark golden hue w/ a creamy white head. Moderate malty aroma. Initial flavor is moderate sweet w/ a bold bitter finish. Tastes are orange, tangerine, malt and hay. Full bodied and balanced mouthfeel. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

22 oz bottle. Deep orange amber with a small but dense off-white head. Big malty carmelized aroma and flavor. Muted hop notes, like it had "aged" and toned down. I was expecting a much bigger hop presence.

12 oz. bottle. Pours an orange-copper color with not much of an off-white that disappears as soon as it’s poured. Got a lot of caramel/candy aroma with almost no hop presence. Taste is the same, just a sticky flavor of caramel and burnt caramel. Finish is more of the same. From all of the reviews, I expected better. I may have to try this one again.

Pours gold into a snifter. White head with medium retention. Mild caramel aromas. Medium bodied with sweet toffee and bread front to back. Little to no hop presence. Tastes old and stale.

Undated bottle poured into a glass. Smell is mostly sweetness and malt; no dry hop aroma left. Clear amber color. Taste is a nice balance between sweetness and bitterness. The taste starts sweeter, and that sweetness gives way to a clean, lasting bitter finish. I like that a lot and also like the balance between sweetness and bitterness, but would like to try it fresh on tap.

Pours a slightly hazy medium golden color with two fingers of eggshell foam. Nose is oxidized with some cardboard, citrus jello, round caramel malt and some stale grass. Palate follows with just underwhelming hop profile that taste old and stale... no date on bottle offered but Maine just received our first shipment of beer from this brewery and personally it taste like a state couldn’t sell it so they sent their stale bottles to us !

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, no bottle dating. Pours hazy deep orange color with a 1 finger dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of grapefruit, orange zest, pineapple, citrus rind, pine, floral, grass, caramel, honey, bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Nice aromas with good complexity and solid balance of citrus/pine hops and dark malt sweetness; with good strength. Taste of grapefruit, orange zest, pineapple, citrus peel, floral, grass, light pine, caramel, honey, bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Fair amount of pine/grassy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, pineapple, orange peel, floral, grass, caramel, honey, bread, light pine, and floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Good complexity of citrus/pine hops with balanced dark malt sweetness; with a good malt/bitterness balance and no cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a smooth, fairly creamy, and lightly slick/sticky mouthfeel that is ok. Alcohol is well hidden with only a slight warming present after the finish. Overall this is a fairly solid DIPA. Well balanced citrus/pine hops and dark/bready malt flavors; and quite smooth to sip on for the big ABV. I felt this was far too malty for the style, but fairly enjoyable overall.
