pours deep brownish redish black with a khaki colored thick head that sticksaround to the bottom of the glass. Aroma is mostly dark chocolate and coffee at the front with alcohol in the middle, then a nice hop kick at the end -mostly pine and floral. taste is hop front heavy giving way to coffee, chocolate and bread in the middle and finishing with a nice warming alcohol sensation. very smooth beer and extremely drinkable. well done.

Great black ipa... Not just a ipa that’s dark in color... This beer has many levels... A little hop in the nose( could use a little more) but it offers more...a nice roasted middle with chocolate flavors... Ending bitterness and shop taste throughout... Great black ipa ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Aroma of mild hops. Some fruit and roast.herbal.Somewhat mild hop aroma though.Mostly a bready roastyness with sweetness.
Taste is chocolate with strong roastyness.Pretty hoppy as well, just a general hoppines in flavor but strong .Its hard to distinguish with all the roast malt. StrongHerbal hoppy bitter.Good but a little roastier than I like for a black ipa.

Aroma is pine, citrus and mild dark malt sweetness. The flavor is grapefruit, nutty dark malts, citrus, a small hint of hop resin and a bitter/slightly tart/tangy finish.

Pours deep black, has nose of chocolate, nuts and caramel. Taste of dark roasted espresso, and chocolate with a bitter aftertaste. All in all a very solid beer, but the nose suggested a little more than was offered, as the body was actually quite light compared to the deep and dark favors on the nose.

A strong roasty body is evident throughout though it has a good amount of hops as well. Dark black but not quite imperial stoutish. This is a pretty good, albeit slightly heavy black IPA.

Bottle as shown. Pours a dark brown and ruby hue with small creamy beige head that lasts awhile. The aroma is coffee and roast. Medium mouthfeel with a sweet roast and chocolate with light bitter finish. A good black IPA from Left Coast.

Some subtle aromas of wet hops and chocolate. Deep, solid black in color with a thin rim at the top. Very smooth flavors of strong hop overtones with a burnt caramel, cocoa and toffee malt backbone. Overall, this is smooth and well balanced. Not bad at all. I’d give this a B+ rating.
