This winter seasonal is in the style of a black IPA. It has the characteristics of an American IPA in having intense bold hop flavors with a twist of dark malt bringing out the roasted chocolate flavor. Three different types of hops and imported dark crystal malts are used to maximize this flavor and create fresh hop taste and aroma. It is dry-hopped in the fermenter to give it its great hop aroma. This brew was meant to be consumed immediately upon opening on that cold winter evening. Enjoy

Dark black in color, with a thin tan head. Super rich dark malt flavors. Nice hops backing this was a super Black IPA.

Interesting brew... Black IPAs are fairly new to me... Pours a black cola with a nice foamy off white head. Looks great, nearly rated it a 5 for Appearance. Aroma is potent and pleasant: some coffee, some chocolate, caramel, cereal, grassy hops, and some dough. Taste is nice but way off balance towards bitter. Same with the finish that leaves a long linngering bitter burn. I like it. Would drink again. Would buy again.

An average black ipa, from craftshack. Thick black appearance. Roast more than hops. Pretty good drinkability, filling. Roast and hop aroma. I would have liked more hops.

Black pour with a foamy light beige head. Aroma is like herbal or pollen-y chocolate fudge cake with a wee bit of roast. Flavor starts with roastiness and black malt bitterness and follows with a light grassy hop kiss. Burnt chocolate notes as well. Has a little hop acidic ending but with a lot of black malt roasty burnt tones. Not a fan,

Bottle from Whispering Willows Liquor: Poured with a thick topping of frothy head while the liquid was a dark brown that was completely opaque. As for the nose, a bold presence of fresh green hop greets my nose while also having a delicate scent of roast malt in the background. The flavor is rich with a squeeze of citrus fruit most notably grapefruit or an orange but the roasted malts come together well with in this recipe. I have to honestly say that this was the tastiest and most delicious Black IPA Iíve had to date. Iíve had some other good ones but they just canít compare to this one.
