Bottle… Pours black with a small, creamy, taupe head. Good retention. The nose provides perfumy, grassy hops and deeply roasted malts. Full-bodied and lightly creamy with moderate carbonation. Burnt, bittersweet flavor and finish - more bitter than sweet.

2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Pours dark maple syrup with the appearance of a stout. A strong hoppy aroma bites the nose. Upon initial taste, there is a chocolate malt flavor that excites, but quickly fades into the classic bitterness of an IPA on the close.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bomber. Pours a solid black with thin, lacey white head. Aroma is rich of licorice, bark, earth and booze. Taste is darkly bitter, almost like a impy stout, until a sweetish anise taste kicks in late in the palate. This brew has a lot going for it. Solid mouthfeel, slick and oily, but not too sticky. Good body and palate... lots of woody smoky character coming through minutes after the swallow. Nice.. nice stuff.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bomber from Taylor’s Market in Sacramento, CA. Pours dark brown/black with a big frothy tan head. Nice hop aroma. Seems like resin/pine. Tastes more like grapefruit though, and there’s a lot of dark roast malt - much more than in many "black" IPAs. The finish is like a bitter pine hopped stout. Grapefruit - pine - so many taste buds, so little talent. Think it’s resin now. Very good ale.

3.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
22 Oz. Pours a very very dark amber just about completetly black with big creamy head. Mild aroma of pine, and roasted grain. Taste on the other hand is quite delicious. A decently strong bitterness backed by a mild sweetness but mostly darker malt characters. Has a chocolate appeal to it. A climaxing bittersweet finish gets this beer serious points. Palate is suprisingly crisp with a slight oiliness to it.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
650 ml bottle from Bev4less. Bottle from the San Clemente location. Pours a cloudy dark brown color with a medium off white head that has good retention and ample lacing. The aroma is somewhat mild with roasted grains, mocha and spicy hops. The flavor is more roasty than hoppy with roasted barley malts, biter chocolate, walnuts and mild nutty hops. The palate is just a bit thin with lively carbonation. Finishes long with lingering bitter walnuts. Overall: Very sessionable ale, very nice.
