COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This winter seasonal is in the style of a black IPA. It has the characteristics of an American IPA in having intense bold hop flavors with a twist of dark malt bringing out the roasted chocolate flavor. Three different types of hops and imported dark crystal malts are used to maximize this flavor and create fresh hop taste and aroma. It is dry-hopped in the fermenter to give it its great hop aroma. This brew was meant to be consumed immediately upon opening on that cold winter evening. Enjoy

thetmaxx (772) - West Sacramento, California, USA - MAY 22, 2011
Poured into a shaker from a bomber. Pours a nice dark black with a thick creamy head. Has a lot of hop character in the aroma, especially pine, some chocolate and roasty aromas as well. Flavour is all about the dark malts. Lots of chocolate, and roastiness. Not to bitter, overall a nice blend of the sweet malt and bitter hops. Full bodied with a oily texture to it, finishes sweet and moderately dry. This is an excellent black ipa!

blazingspiral (170) - Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA - MAY 17, 2011
Pour: thick black with a large tan head, plenty of lacing. Aroma: bittersweet chocolate, woodsmoke and charcoal, hints of herbs and pine -- nice. Taste: strong bitterness tempered by dark, roasted, earthy flavors. Palate: thick and resinous, dry finish, lingering hops essence. This is a delicious beer, easy to drink and ever so satisfying.

brokensail (12508) - Orange County, California, USA - MAY 15, 2011
A: The pour is a dark mahogany sort of color with a huge tan head that has excellent retention. S: A really nice nose to this beer consisting primarily of grapefruit with a nice lemon zest thing going on as well. There’s quite a bit of floral hop aroma to it and overall it’s quite perfumey. Some roast is there, but not as much as usual for a Black IPA. T: Not as impressive flavor-wise, but still good. It’s very bitter with a lot of pine and bitter grapefruit peel. There’s a slight astringency as well as some grass hop notes. M: The body and carbonation are both medium. D: I’ve never been terribly impressed by this brewery, but this was really quite good. I would even drink this again.

hopscotch (10009) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - APR 20, 2011
Bottle… Pours black with a small, creamy, taupe head. Good retention. The nose provides perfumy, grassy hops and deeply roasted malts. Full-bodied and lightly creamy with moderate carbonation. Burnt, bittersweet flavor and finish - more bitter than sweet.

Bomber from Albertsons in Mira Mesa: Deep dark brown with a huge cocoa froth colored head. Aroma is roasty with dark chocolate. Flavor starts dark roast, kinda stout like, followed by nutty and bitter dark chocolate flavors and a long light citrus bitter finish. Ligh to medium body is creamy with moderate carbonation.

huge hop aroma, citrus pine that rich dark malting comes in seconds later, hop aroma lingers nicely, flavor is the mixture of bitter roasted malts and hops , you can truely tell the clash of the fight over your tongue, sometimes its the hops ,sometimes the bitter chocolate,Confuses your palate at first ,but soon settles to enjoyable harmony, love this style, especially when well done

DConn007 (22) - - FEB 24, 2011
Pours dark maple syrup with the appearance of a stout. A strong hoppy aroma bites the nose. Upon initial taste, there is a chocolate malt flavor that excites, but quickly fades into the classic bitterness of an IPA on the close.

marcus (7307) - Sacramento, California, USA - FEB 15, 2011
Bomber from Taylor’s Market. Pours jet black with a thick tan head and a chocolate and treacle aroma. There is a chocolate and anise flavor with a noticeable piny hop finish. It all goes together quite well.

gorditoabd (629) - San Diego, California, USA - FEB 9, 2011
Bomber. Pours a solid black with thin, lacey white head. Aroma is rich of licorice, bark, earth and booze. Taste is darkly bitter, almost like a impy stout, until a sweetish anise taste kicks in late in the palate. This brew has a lot going for it. Solid mouthfeel, slick and oily, but not too sticky. Good body and palate... lots of woody smoky character coming through minutes after the swallow. Nice.. nice stuff.
