3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Black stout color with a tam head. Aroma is malty and sweet. Initially has a ipa flavor but then malt and barley begin to dominate. Great black ipa.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft sample. Near black in colour with moderate carbonation. Chocolate and roasted malt aromas combine nicely with some spicy citric hops. Reverse order in the mouth, with the hops being more forward and the roast coming through on the back end. A bit of caramel malt provides balance and body, although the roast seemed a touch harsh by the end of my pint. Solid overall.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Pours a very dark brown color with a smallish light brown head on it. Nose is very roasty, with just some hints of some floral hops coming through underneath. Taste is roastier than it is bitter, but there is a little bit of hoppy bitterness in there. Decent, but a bit muddled for my preferences.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
22oz bomber pours with a deep mahogany colored body the supports a nice looking mocha head. The aroma offers up inviting notes of chocolate bar, dark roasted malts and the some earthy spicy onion like hops. The taste has fairly firm dark roasted malts to thin ribbons of burnt malts flowing into both milk chocolate and dark chocolate. Behind the roasty malts lurks a pleasing degree of hoppiness such as dank spicy onion and grapefruit where the bitterness rises into some resiny notes toward the finish. Solid brew.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle:   Nearly pitch black, sediment floating about, frothy tannish head, little lacing.   Roasty, soft cow pasture.   Faint hop presence.   Pale roast and hop on the tongue.   Thankfully no cow pasture or sulphur like qualities, however seems like a lighter example.   Mild overall.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Little bit more of a bitterness on the finish versus the start.   The roasty bits have lessened, the hop bitterness has emerged.   Moderate example, fairly clean, but not as sweet, big, or hoppy as others.   Thankfully it wasn’t loaded with cow pasture.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Dark mahogany pour with a small khaki head. Dark roasty addition to the hop profile. Unfortunately, the grapefruit, orange peel, and lemon zest are overpowered by the smoky malt profile. Very average.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bomber. Nice jet black pour. Hints of burnt pine, roast, and citrus on the nose. Similar flavors, very burnt hop roast on the finish. Good stuff!

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
At Aces and Ales Winter Beer Festival. Dark and brooding with a creamy tan head with lots of lacing. Good body and light carbonation. Citrus on the nose with a nice hoppiness. Dark malts are not as noticeable as the hops take the lead and remain long in the finish.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Interesting brew... Black IPAs are fairly new to me...
Pours a black cola with a nice foamy off white head. Looks great, nearly rated it a 5 for Appearance. Aroma is potent and pleasant: some coffee, some chocolate, caramel, cereal, grassy hops, and some dough. Taste is nice but way off balance towards bitter. Same with the finish that leaves a long linngering bitter burn. I like it. Would drink again. Would buy again.
