3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle from the bottle shop. Pours black with a thin tan head. The aromas are citrus, grass, chocolate. The mouthfeel is dry, roasty and bitter with a heavy body and medium carbonation. Cheers!

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottled. Pours deep brown with an average tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, citrus and pine. Sweet flavor that ends up being dry and bitter. Medium bodie, oily texture and soft carbonation. A very nice BIPA. 🌟🌟🌟🌟

2 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 10/20
I would rather categorize this as a porter. Not enough hops to justify it as a Black IPA. Aroma smelled more of alcohol than anything. Tastes a bit old and chalky though the chocolate tones were pleasant.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle. Dark yet shiny, the head is an average presentation. As Iíve said with many Black IPAs, I just donít really get this style. To me, we should just call these Hoppy Porters. Thatís what this is ... a chalky, chocolatey beer at its base, but topped with some woodsy, assertive hops. Well made, Iím just not a huge fan of this blended style. (#6057, 11/5/2015)

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
From bottle. Pours like a stout but with more head. hops appear sightly at the start mid palate the dark malt, chocolate, caramel and coffee show through with a roast bitter finish. Great black IPA.

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
On tap at the source. Dark black in color. Mild tan head. Strong roasted malt and hop bitterness on the nose. Aggressive aroma. The intensity continues as the sip progresses. The hops are the leader of this black IPA world. Lingering roasted malt quality that almost burns the mouth. They fulfilled the style mission but thereís something underwhelming about this beer. Meh.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Big roasty burnt aroma along with a nice dose of citrusy hop. Body is full and well structured/balanced. On one side I taste a great mix of roasted malts, cacao and a bit of tar. On the other side I taste citrusy hop bitterness. The two opposites meld perfectly. Tasty, lingering burnt finish.

2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
Pretty weird Black IPA, potentially old or off. 22oz bomber. Burnt oily caramel aroma, not pleasant. Black brown body, beige head. This is pretty bad, sweet and sugary, with some odd pungent undertones. Comes off like an old Milk Stout with too much specialty malts. Pretty good....for a Caribbean Stout. Weak, poorly made Black IPA.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Good, and this is one of my favorite styles (top two or three), but somehow somethingís lacking here. All the parts are there. But, Iím not getting enough roastiness. And particularly troublesome, not enough hoppiness. Not sure if I have an old bottle (says this is a winter seasonal, and I bought this in June), or what -- I usually expect better from Left Coast. That said, itís good -- but there are many better.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bomber. Pours a murky dark brown color with a small brown head. A big chocolate and fruity hop nose. The flavor is more chocolate and ash, a bit of milk, sweetness, certainly fruity hops, but this is hardly distinguishable from other hopped up porters or stouts, not a robust CDA, pine. Quite nice though. Medium bitterness. As it warmed it became more fruity and bitter.
