COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
"At left coast Brewing Co., we pride ourselves on our seasonal line up, with Una Mas amber being our one for the Spring. This dark copper lager(Ale in Texas) is light in body and bursting with flavor. Styled after the popular amber lagers south of the border, Una Mas is the perfect Spring brew. Small amounts of dark roasted malts add a rich color without making it thick or chewy. Munich malt adds a rich toasty finish to the brew. Una mas will leave you wanting more."

Bottle.
Pours a decent amber with an aroma of roasted malt notes and strawberry toast. Flavor is toasted bread, roasted nuts, and an earthy vegetable finish. Decent mouthfeel. Too earthy for my taste but not bad.

Bottle. Pours with a clear orange to amber body with a small and not very retentive off-white head. Slowly fades to a ring. Some lacing. Aromas of malty first, nutty (maybe even husky), bready, lightly toasted. Hazelnuts, a hint of salinity. Pretzels. Minimal hop notes. A hint of esters which seems out of place. Flavors are nutty, biscuity, and again a hint of salinity. Medium bitterness that rounds to an overall neutral balance. Hop flavors are very minimal. No esters on the flavor. Some crispness and a short duration. Medium to lively bubbles, a bit high in alcohol for what I am use to from a Vienna. Seems like the water is pretty high in bicarbonate (getting some bite on the sides of the tongue). Decently dry finish. No real flaws. Decent.

650 ml bottle from Whole Foods. Pours a dark copper color with a small beige head that soon recedes to a film. The aroma is minimal with hay, dust, and some sweet spices. The flavor is something of a malt bomb with multi-layered grains, toffee, caramel, biscuit, nuts, pears, rock candy and apricots. The palate is thick and smooth with lively carbonation. The finish is long and dry. Overall: I think that I have an old bottle, as the aroma is pretty much gone, also zero mention-worthy hops in the flavor, but the taste was wonderful and complex. Must try a known fresh sample some day.

It appears that Left Coast has changed this beer somewhat as it’s now (according to the 22 oz. bottle I got from Albertson’s in San Diego) 6.4% ABV and a *spring* seasonal. It’s still described as an amber lager which it appears to be. Nice clean cereal malt aroma with floral hops accompanying it. Orange/tan body with a thick white head of very fine bubbles (almost looks like nitro). Taste is lightly sweet with caramel and a very faint bubblegum in the background. Light, piney and floral hop flavors balance this out nicely. Roasted malt and a light bitterness are left behind. Definitely reminds me of a German style lager with the mostly malt dominated body and some estery flavors in the background, but with a West Coast flair. A very enjoyable and drinkable brew for anytime of the year.

Bomber poured a clear reddish amber with a lasting amber head. Aromas of carmel, toasted malt and light earthiness. Palate was light to medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of carmel, toasted malt and liggt earthiness with a smooth lingering toasty carmel finish.

~Pours an amber color with small lasting head. ~Light malty aroma with some spicy hops. Smells crisp. ~Toasty malty flavor followed by a light bitterness. ~Light feel, dry, bitter finish ~Easy to drink would be refreshing on a hot day. The bitter taste is a bit strange. I dont think I will be saying "una mas" after this one. Not bad though.

Tap @ Scottsdale Oggi’s location. Aroma was weak with some spice and a metalic aroma. Amber body with off white head. Sweet sticky cinnamon spicey candy flavor. But at time during drinking the pint of beer it was somewhat watery. A sweet spicey aftertaste was lingering. Not bad little unusual.

Seasonal on tap at Oggi’s Scottsdale (4/12/08). Pours a slightly hazy dark amber color with decent head and great lacing. Nose is malt and spices. Palate is malt, floral hops and a bit of pine bite in the finish. Medium mouth feel. Decent beer.
