3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
(22oz bottle thanks to Dixonian) near black pour, creamy medium tan head, Nose of raisins, rich chocolate, honey, berries, cream, nice! Taste is light alcohol, toasty chocolate malt, slightly off cardboard flavor but nice enough to make up for it, bit of burnt marshmallow too. Prickly carbonation and creamy body.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Appearance: Pours a near black body with a foaming, though not angrily so, light tan head.
Smell: A roasty aroma, with some sooty coarseness from the black patent. Plenty of bittersweet chocolate (or chocolate BS, as Iíve started saying in close company) with just some caramel and second-fiddle hops hardly pushing past the stronger chocolate and roast notes.
Taste: Bittersweet chocolate, some minor caramel, and even a bit vanilla laid over the hard roasted grains. Citrusy hops, lightly resinous with a medium level of bitterness aided in part by the roastiness from the malts. Dry, lightly roasty, lightly chalky finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation. Quite smooth mouthfeel.
Overall: Those well-roasted black patent type malts just always seem to bring a bit of harshness to the beer, which Iím never too enthusiastic about. Still, itís a decent enough stout.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Deliciously aromatic. Thick-n-chewy with a nice long-lasting subtle aftertaste. Picking up slight hints of coconut and a woody flavor like that of a bourbon barrel might put forth.

Maybe one of the better American stouts Ihave had in a while. Being west coast, I expected heavy hops, but they were nicely restrained.
