Decent oatmeal stout. Very light in flavor and easy to drink. Milky flavor with a slight roasted malt finish smells of coffee and milk. Pours black women th a tan head. Had at lady Gregory.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Location: 12 oz bottle from State Line, 2/22/15
Aroma: The nose is roasted malt forward, some light smoke, wood notes, and a bit of tobacco
Appearance: Pours a dark brown-black color with a foamy light brown head and drippy lace
Flavor: The flavor is dry and roasted malts, light smoke/tobacco, and a mid-bitter close
Palate: The body is medium-full, not overly heavy, with a soft carbonation, and a fairly dry finish
This is actually a quite enjoyable, dry, and fairly easy drinking example of the style. There’s a lack of sweetness that works nicely here. Dry and enjoyable.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Black. Very heavy roasted, but surprisingly smooth and the roasted, almost burnt malt flavors are not overpowering notes of coffee and chocolate. Good palate, and some sugar.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Impenetrable dark with ruby highlights and small beige head. Strong cocoa aroma with hazelnut, some roasted coffee beans and vanilla. The taste has treacle, licorice, heaps of dark chocolate, hazelnut, only a little coffee and charcoal in the finish. Sweet upfront and dry finish. Medium bodied but slick and oily. Very good, particularly as a dessert beer.

Sehr dunkel rötlichbraunes Bier mit einer geringen braunen Schaumkrone. Geruch stark nach Kaffee, Vanille, verbrannte Erde. Geschmack sehr schokoladig, sehr viel Vanille, Kaffee, klasse!

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Black pour, a baby fingerof head. Milk chocolate, dark coffee, and roasted malt aroma. Taste is far sweeter than the aroma? Rich chocolate and malted milk, sponge toffee sweetness. Lighter coffee and roasted notes than the aroma would suggest. Thick body, creamy finish.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours black with very small tan head. Aroma is mostly sweet and malty, not as much roasty quality as I like. Taste matches with lots of molasses and chocolate. Good but not the best

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pours rich, warm sable with a finie-bubbled buttery tan head. Nose-filling aroma has roast malt, molasses, caramel, and subtle smoky coffee tones. Magical flavor pleases with quality coffee, roast and smoky malt, molasses, and caramel notes. Texture is firm and viscous, fairly fizzy. Let this brew do its voodoo on you!

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Deepest, darkest cola brown with good clarity and a tinge of ruby. Not much of a head; falls immediately to a mere ring of tan. Nose is dominated by meaty, roasted, salty and savoury umami notes with licks of OXO cubes, tobacco, molasses, tar, heavily roasted cacao beans and heated alcohol. Rather dry and lean on the palate. Pasty with a smooth finish. Quite spicy, peppery with a burnt malt and tarrish mid-palate and roasted coffee bean back end. Smoky ashen malts in the linger. Doesn’t hit. Very little depth. OK drinking but that is all. Disappointing! (65cL, no date stamp, The Liquor Shed, Jandakot)
