Black pour with a 1 finger, soapy to creamy tan head that has good retention. Aroma is full of roast and nutty notes, some chocolate, dark coffee, burnt sugar, licorice and light, but sharp dark fruit notes. Flavor is slightly sweet caramel and chocolate up front, reminds me of a Riesen’s candy, actually, then a little char, nutty notes, coffee, a little toffee, light leather and mineral notes and some light fruity and pine notes to the finish. Medium body with a creamy feel throughout and a light to moderate carbonation with a fairly soft feel. Very good stuff overall, the flavor profile is dead on, I could drink a ton of this stuff, unfortunately the price and alcohol content means I won’t.

Bouteille 355ml.

Daytona Beach Shores, ABC Fine Wine & Spirits - 12 oz bottle. Deep dark brown leading to black pout, initial mocha colored head that fades after a while. Solid chocolate, Kahlua and licorice aroma. Flavor is bold and full-bodied with some chocolate notes, a touch of vanilla, some marshmallow accents. Nice creamy mouthfeel. High quality stuff.

Bottle @ weekly tasting shared by Joes. Opaque pitch black color, small beige head. Aroma is malts, very roasty, earthy, leather. Taste malts, a lot of roast, earthy, leather, lightly hops, a hint of smoke, bitter. Medium body and carbonation. Quite nice, but you’ve got to like the firm roastyness.

355 ml. bottle split with kraddel & anderfernandez. Black, little mocha head. Nose is thin grainy, lightly roasted coffee. Taste is thin, powdery, overly herbal, ashy mocha, powdery, more herbs & light roast. Body is herbs, rather thin. Okay as a beer but rather week as an RIS.

The first thing that came to my mind was "Bourbon", I thought it might have been aged in Bourbon barrels but no, it is just the thick barley and the 8.5% ABV conspiring to trick me. Plenty of roastyness (if that’s even a word). Smells like I’m going to need a spoon for this. Dark like a bar of unsweetened baking cocoa, has the scent of one too. Small light brown head, leaves nice lacing "rings". Wow, thick & rich, fudge, burnt toast, espresso with a sweet follow and a bittersweet aftertaste. Kudos to the Left Coast lads, this is a treat!
