COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Okay, this one isn’t for everybody – yet. Over the years we’ve been asked to brew a year-round IPA, but have balked at the idea because of the flood of American IPAs currently on the market. If we couldn’t make an IPA that was different what was available, that we personally liked to drink, and one that we could put our personal signature on and be proud of, we didn’t want to do it. So, last fall we brewed a single batch IPA on our new brewhouse and sent it out to 5 different markets around the country to test the response. Which turned out to be pretty positive. So, here we are in 2009, and we’re back playing again with a few new test batches that we’re sampling here in Colorado and a few select markets around the country. What’s in a name, you ask? Well, back in February of 2007, there was an article in there titled ‘Extremely Boring’. Go back and find that issue, and that specific article, and you’ll see why we named the beer 400 Pound Monkey. Happy sleuthing!

Drank in tulip glass poured from 12oz bottle. Aroma - not much of anything for an ipa. Dry notes of wood. Apppearance - golden orange with some sediment floating around. Taste - not as hoppy or piny as most ipas. Bitter but still smooth. Palate - little bit more piny now. Overall- pretty good. Not my favorite but not too bad. Wouldnt seek out again but would drink

Pours orange with a small white head and sediment floating all around. Aroma is floral hops and bready. Taste sweet, fruity, and malty with just a little bit of citrus at the end.

Resinous caramel malt aroma. Hazy orange color. Bitter starch taste, some sweet fruity elements. This is a malt emphasizing IPA, which is fine, but it could use more hop flavor. Smooth body, good drinker. Okay stuff from the Left Hand.

12 oz bottle: Aroma is nicely hoppy aroma, citrus, resin, and a over nice scent to it. Appearance is a golden pour with a thick white head that diminishes to a soapy film. Taste has got the definite hoppy bite to it with a lingering bitterness on the back end. Overall, Good put on great. Cheers!

From the 12 fl. oz. bottle. It pours a murky pale yellow with long lasting foamy head and a few floaters. Hurrah for sediment. The aroma is subtle but hopped in a mild sort of earthy way. The body is medium. The taste has an essence of herbal m alts and a low hop bitterness, especially for an IPA. I like IPAs that don’t overpower the senses but have decent flavor and this does the trick.

Bottle. Pours golden with little head. Nose is sweet malt as floral hops. Very malt-forward. Just a touch of hop bitterness. Nice but unexciting. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle 355ml, a cloudy amber beer with medium head. Nose is intense on floral, bergamot and orange notes. Aroma is on almond, coconut, fresh melon, again bergamot, unusual fruit hops bouquet.

Bottle. Tan brown color with foam that fades but remains slightly with lace. Not overly hoppy but extremely flavorful and full bodied. Not your ordinary iPa, but very good ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
