2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
pours a dark lemon color with a small amount of white foamy head, light carbonation. aroma is of sweet caramel malts, and earthy hops, and slight yeast notes. the taste is of the same flavors, earthy and spicy hops, you can taste the flavors from the yeast. and the beer fades with a decent bitterness. overall, this is a refreshing take on an english style IPA, very drinkable, but not really my thing.

Aroma of fruity weed or sweet BO. Fantastic! The high corny grain malt aroma. Nuttyand spicy. Really barley like flavour and great medium between aroma and bitter hops

Good looks. Great taste. Pretty standard in the IPA realm but sometimes refreshing trumps unique...

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
Definitely an unusual IPA and that’s kind of the point. 400 Pound Monkey’s hop profile is pungent and almost herbal. It creates a tingling sensation that I find to be quite enjoyable. Left Hand hasn’t created the best IPA in the U.S. but they’ve certainly provided a unique option in a community that is loaded with hoppy beers. Sometimes, uniqueness is its own reward.

Bottle in Colorado 2012 GABF. Nice US take on UK style. Malty. Good hopping. Good pairing for a burger.

2.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20
Bready aroma tinged with grapefruit clear orange in appearance. Good medium amount of bitterness but kind of watery and a bit of a burnt taste on the palate that doesn’t go with this style.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle into pub glass. Clear yellow-amber. Lots of bread aroma with toffee, caramel, banana, honey. Taste of pine, hoppy up front, long light bitter finish that gets stronger with each sip. This beer is exactly what is advertised.

Do they have a 4 1/2 star rating? Super good IPA or IPL. seriously a little bit of chocolate on the finish.

Good retention and great lacing. Smells of slightly sweet malt. Tastes of slight hops and slight hops. Leaves a long bitterness in the mouth.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle from Breeze Thru. Pours a pale golden with a white head. Aroma has sweet light fruits and pine. Taste is of sweet fruits, caramel, light pine & some earthiness. Light to medium bodied. Finishes more sweet than bittersweet. Shrug, not bad, but not real tasty or distinctive.
