COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Okay, this one isn’t for everybody – yet. Over the years we’ve been asked to brew a year-round IPA, but have balked at the idea because of the flood of American IPAs currently on the market. If we couldn’t make an IPA that was different what was available, that we personally liked to drink, and one that we could put our personal signature on and be proud of, we didn’t want to do it. So, last fall we brewed a single batch IPA on our new brewhouse and sent it out to 5 different markets around the country to test the response. Which turned out to be pretty positive. So, here we are in 2009, and we’re back playing again with a few new test batches that we’re sampling here in Colorado and a few select markets around the country. What’s in a name, you ask? Well, back in February of 2007, there was an article in there titled ‘Extremely Boring’. Go back and find that issue, and that specific article, and you’ll see why we named the beer 400 Pound Monkey. Happy sleuthing!

Brewed in the USA !!! Pours amber in color with a small foamy white head. Aroma of hay, citrus, lemons and malts. Taste of grains, pine cones, malts and some bitter hops. This IPA is not balanced and i had a hard time finishing this brew.

Pours a clear amber color with a medium white head that left a little bit of lacing around the glass. The aroma is hops, fruit, citrus. The taste is more of the same.

Bottle - nearly clear gold with very slim white head. Malty aroma with some floral hop. Flavours are a bit more interesting, caramel, malts, some herbs, bitter finish. Lightish medium body, softly carbonatied. Unremarkable but not bad.

Bottle to shaker glass. Pours slightly hazy gold, two finger quick head, nice lace and retention. Aroma is earthy grass and herbal. Taste is lightly bitter and slightly sweet. Medium-light body, medium carbonation, slightly resin mouth feel. Finishes with a nice lingering bitterness with notes of caramel, butterscotch, lemon rind and pine. It’s a good English style IPA, but average for an IPA overall.

Tasted from bottle. Pour a clear gold with white head that fades quickly. Aroma of stale malts. Grass, grains and some floral aromas. Moderate to heavily sweet and moderate bitterness. Has a strange almost metallic aftertaste which I'm not a fan off. Little overly sweet to me. Caramel and toffee with some grains flavors. Overall a below average ipa in my opinion. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Drank from a pint glass poured from a twelve ounce bottle at the Smiling Moose. A nice dark yellowish, gold with almost white head. I really enjoyed this IPA the hop aroma and flavor wasn’t overpowering as most IPA’s are.

Bottle at Exmouth Arms. I wanted something easy going before the school run, and this beer went down nicely. Clear dark orange. Lightly sweet and citrusy up front. Bitter and piney on the back. Light to medium body. Nice.
