COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Okay, this one isn’t for everybody – yet. Over the years we’ve been asked to brew a year-round IPA, but have balked at the idea because of the flood of American IPAs currently on the market. If we couldn’t make an IPA that was different what was available, that we personally liked to drink, and one that we could put our personal signature on and be proud of, we didn’t want to do it. So, last fall we brewed a single batch IPA on our new brewhouse and sent it out to 5 different markets around the country to test the response. Which turned out to be pretty positive. So, here we are in 2009, and we’re back playing again with a few new test batches that we’re sampling here in Colorado and a few select markets around the country. What’s in a name, you ask? Well, back in February of 2007, there was an article in there titled ‘Extremely Boring’. Go back and find that issue, and that specific article, and you’ll see why we named the beer 400 Pound Monkey. Happy sleuthing!

Taste just doesn’t quite do it for me. Tastes better than your avg light beers but doesn’t even come close to Hopaliciousor Hopslam

12oz bottle. Pours a slightly hazy light orange color with one finger of foamy white head. Aroma of floral & piney hops, and some caramel malt. Taste is also floral & citrusy hops, bready malts, honey, and some grass.

Draft at blue monk. Copper pour, mild bitterness in both aroma and touch more in flavor. Malt heavy, caramel mainly. Decent English ipa

The subtle aroma of this beer combines sour malts and hops, and the appearance has many interesting elements: the hazy orangeish golden color, the small grain sediment, and the small white head. However, this is where the positives of this beer end, for the mildly sour, slightly bitter, and overall dry flavor isn’t pleasing; furthermore, the palate fuses a long astringent finish, medium body, soft carbonation, and a thin sticky texture, which all make the unpleasant flavor linger way too long for enjoyment.

Bottle. Pours a clear gold with minimal head. Aroma is socks, BO, rotting food, skunky, think I may have finally happened across my first bad/infected bottle. Flavor is funky, vegetal, sour in a bad way, vomit, with a bitter malt finish. Moderate carbonation, light body, and watery texture. Can’t imagine this was the beer as intended, will have to try again.

Pours a hazy gold with a foamy white head. Sweet nose...pineapple, mango, and subtle pine. Different but appealing. Tast is similar. Very fruity. Sweet bread, mango, and peach with a bitter backend. Medium thick body with a lingering bitter finish. Definitely not typical. I like the way it is headed...its needs refinement.

2013 bottle to a pint glass. Pours a honey amber color with a good foamy white head that settled into dollop of froth. Slightly hazy with lots of floating particles and decent, sticky lacing. Aroma is bready with some citrus hops smell. Taste also has a bready/yeasty quality up front that settles into a slightly herbal and soapy bitterness. Both tastes are pretty mellow but not particularly complimentary. Mouthfeel is thick and full. Only a little carbonation with a slightly astringent finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Szybko opadająca biała piana, czuć cytrusy, brzoskwinie i karmel, lekka przyjemna waniliowa goryczka.
