Pitch black with a moderate beige head. A huge whack of coffee in the nose with some chocolate. The flavor is so much coffee it hurts. Its not a coffee beer flavor this just coffee. I’ve never tasted a beer that is exactly like coffee. After an afternoon of belgians, I need this. Overall brilliant.

16 ounce pint - $6.25 at Taco Mac in Kennesaw, Georgia.
Appearance: Near black body in appearance capped with a smallish, dusty tan head.
Smell: Roasty aroma, certainly coffee-scented. It’s aromatic though not bold, as in smelling a breakfast blend versus Italian roast. Also snippets of semi-sweet chocolate, burnt toast, and caramel.
Taste: Chocolate leads trailed by the chilled, sugar sweetened coffee wrapping up the roasted malt. Then, some lesser tastes of toast and caramel roll in. Medium-plus sweetness. I never pick up any apparent hop flavors and the bitterness seems more a function of the roasted malts and coffee additive than anything else. Like a pinball trying to pick up a few extra points, the flavor bounces back and forth and around the chocolate and coffee until the gentle finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation.
Overall: A solid if straight-forward porter overneath a pleasing coffee flavor. The thumb points up!

Sampled at Cajun Cafe’s 2011 Fall Beer Festival. Pours a usual porter brown with an off-white head. Nose is coffee, chocolate, some roast, and some earth. Flavor is similar with chocolate and coffee throughout and bits of roast and earth. Nice porter.

Tap. Pours black with a medium creamy light tan head, medium-long retention with excellent lacing. Aroma is chocolate and coffee malt with earthy notes and dark fruit. Flavor is heavy malt and coffee with low bitterness and hops, dark fruits and a dry finish. Medium body, warmth, and carbonation.

Draught. Weak roasted aroma, some coffee. Black colour, clear red shine. Small light brown head. The flavour is a little sweet, but rather pleasant, roasted and with coffee, like the aroma. Mouthfeel on the light side, but acceptable.

On tap during the Milk Stout Nitro release party during GABF 2011 week. Dark dark brown with a light tan head. Nice roasty coffee aroma and roasty black malt. Flavor had a lot of brewed coffee overtones...lots. Rich dark malt, a touch of chocolate, and a subtle light bitterness on the finish. Sweet and dessert like but on a quaffable medium-full body. Just lovely!
