COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Coffee porter released for Colorado Beer Week 2011.

In honor of Craft Beer Weeks all around the US, Left Hand created a special one-off beer called Beer Week Sauce Porter. This American-style porter contains a fair amount of coffee; which is just the thing that you’ll need to keep going through this week!

The nose is wonderful. Like a chocolate mocha coffee. Taste is nice, very malty. Dry and long. It's too thin perhaps. And not especially complex. But otherwise a great beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tap. Pours a clear dark brown body with a small fizzy light brown head. The nose is huge on the coffee, some nice chocolate and roast notes as well. It tastes more like a coffee than a beer actually, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing for me. The malt backbone is a bit thin though, and doesn’t really provide all that great of a structure for the coffee to rest on. Lighter bodied with fizzy carbonation and a lingering coffee finish. Ok, but not the best Porter.

Dark brown with a tan head. Roasted malt, chocolate, and coffee aromas. Sweet caramel start with roaste malt flavors, some chocolate notes and finishing with coffee.

On tap at Rock & Run Brewery. Pours a dark brown with good clarity, a creamy tan head twitch good lacing. Big espresso aroma with cocoa and almost burnt toast. Perfect espresso and coffee bean flavor first in taste with cocoa and some scorched sugar sweetness. Moderately roasty porter flavor supports all this nicely in the background. Finishes roasty dry. Mouthfeel is just a tad light to be creamy but that makes it more drinkable, with moderate carbonation. Fantastic porter with perfect coffee elements. Very drinkable for a full flavored beer. Enjoyed very much and would love to have again.

1/18/2014 and 1/27/2014: Left Hand Beer Week Sauce... This beer is straight up coffee and roasted malt, but it’s more refined that that... Aroma is coffee along with some chocolate candy. Coffee definitely dominates at first, but it isn’t just COFFEE. As the beer breathes and warms, nutty and roasted malt, chocolate candy, caramel, and vanilla undertones come through; earthy, herbal finish pairs nicely with the roastiness. This beer doesn’t have a big, thick body behind it, but the carbonation isn’t too high and I think that really helps make this beer work; overall, this beer is DELICIOUS and I REALLY enjoyed it. Draught (snifter and growler fill) at Flipdaddy’s in Mason, Ohio. Rating #79 for this beer.

Location: Draft at the HopsScotch, 1/17/14

Aroma: The nose is pretty much all coffee and roasted malts
Appearance: Pours a dark brown color with a creamy light brown head and full lace
Flavor: The taste is much the same, lots of roasted coffee
Palate: The mouthfeel is smooth and creamy, drinks pretty easily
Overall Impression: This is a nice, one-dimensional coffee porter. It is pretty much exactly what you think you are getting going in, which is not a bad thing at all.

Tap at brewery. Pours dark brown with fizzy tan head. Aroma is roasted and chocolate malts, coffee, earthy notes, and faint vanilla. Flavor is dry roast malts forward, smooth coffee notes, light earthy and chocolate bitterness, and faint dark fruit esters; dry roast finish. Medium body and carbonation.

Draft at the brewery. Pours black with a thin bubbly beige head. Tastes like coffee beans, light malt, dry grain character, hint of grapefruit. Light body and low carbonation. Smells like roasted coffee beans.

On tap @ Rattle N Hum. As good as black in the glass this and it has a nice medium sized brown and kinda sidesticking head. Oh, my this is a coffee infused aroma. Reminds me if the famous Coffee Bender. Like nosing a fresh grounded box of coffee. A bit one dimensional perhaps, but I really love fresh grounded coffee. It goes in the taste also. A bit light and the carbonation is one what soft, but my oh my that fresh coffee is amazing. Dark a bit toasted and just really tasty. Dark some chocolate paper in the aftertaste. Good! 13.06.2013
