Commercial Description:
A traditional London style beer, our Black Jack Porter highlights chocolate malt and Kent Goldings hops. Its slight initial sweetness quickly yields to the distinctive roastiness of the chocolate malt. The Kent Goldings hops perfectly balance the malt, making it very smooth, with a surprisingly clean finish.

Bottle, 5.8%. Roasted and fruity aroma with some salty liquorice. Almost black colour. Small light brown head. The flavour is a lot like the aroma, but also with some sweetness, which is quite good.

Dark brown pour with a thin tan head. Aroma of molasses, lactose, and toasted malt. Thin bodied. Chalky chocolate flavor followed by a bitter finish

Bottle. Moderate to heavy malt aromas of cereal, roasted, molasses and dark chocolate, light herbs and dough for the hops and yeast, with faint notes of cola and a hint of boozy/fruity. Head starts fizzy and settles out creamy, light brown in color, has fair lacing and is mostly diminishing. Color is clear dark red/brown. Flavor starts moderately sweet and lightly acidic, then finishes lightly sweet and acidic. Palate is medium, watery almost creamy and has a soft carbonation. It finishes lightly astringent and alcoholic, and slightly drying. A great balance of aromas, flavors and textures.

I very nice porter that went well with our pot roast dinner. I would like to pick up some more of this roasty goodness.

Nice chocolate aroma. Unfortunately the taste does not reflect the scent. It has little taste to offer with a dry finish.

Very dark red indeed with a huge beige head. Roasted malt and medicinal licorice aroma. Flavour is moderately roasty wiith minor chocolate and aniseed accents. I was left with a feeling of nothing great or distinctive about this one.

Pours a dark brown with a very thin tan head that quickly diminishes. Aroma is a bit nutty with some sweet caramel malt notes mixed in with chocolate, light coffee and dark roasted malt notes. Flavor begins with a sweet roasted malt taste with some hints of raisin, moves into a light, smooth chocolate middle and finishes slightly nutty but with lots of bitter roasted malt notes. The beer is pretty light but far from watery, the way a porter should be. Overall the roasted flavors meld very well and create a good beer to be enjoyed.

12 oz. bottle. Pours a clear brown color with a mostly lasting soft tan head. The aroma includes roasted malt, coffee, and chocolate. The flavor is roasted malt, dark chocolate, espresso, with a drier bitterness to the finish. Medium bodied, smooth, a decent readily available porter.
