A traditional London style beer, our Black Jack Porter highlights chocolate malt and Kent Goldings hops. Its slight initial sweetness quickly yields to the distinctive roastiness of the chocolate malt. The Kent Goldings hops perfectly balance the malt, making it very smooth, with a surprisingly clean finish.

Draught at Brewery: Aroma of choclate, smoke, and roast. Poured dark brown in color. Small, light-brown head diminished. Good lacing. Tasted of choclate, coffee, and cream. Medium body. Soft carbonation. Overall, a decent porter.

Poured a sinister brown hue enveloped in a spongy tan foam, Left Hand’s Porter makes little effort to impress through any sensory evaluation. The scent is dusty and sterile, with a noticeable saponaceous background and a stinging mixture of lemon and haystacks. Roasted coffee, chocolate and licorice are ransomed by the asceptic and hesitant ensemble. The palate seems equally gauche, blending what seems a fitting array of flavors though it unfortunately carries no unity and originality. Chocolate, coffee and soil are laced in a smoky ribbon revealing merely a drab and muted product of little worth. Black Jack Porter does not offend but its dispassionateness is utterly unsatisfying.

UPDATED: JAN 17, 2007 A nicely brewed deep black porter. Nose of malted bartley and tastes of well, barley. The hops come through with a nice malty edge, followed by a peanutty, earthy flavor.

Pours a nice black with a tan head. There is a slight roasted aroma and the flavor is primarily of roasted malt and some hop.
