COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A traditional London style beer, our Black Jack Porter highlights chocolate malt and Kent Goldings hops. Its slight initial sweetness quickly yields to the distinctive roastiness of the chocolate malt. The Kent Goldings hops perfectly balance the malt, making it very smooth, with a surprisingly clean finish.

Pours a deep dark brown color. Aromas of chocolate, coffee and a hint of hops. Flavor light chocolate, coffee, and a touch of tobacco. Medium body with a smooth dry finish.

Really enjoyed this one. Really was easy to drink, did not give me the fullness that I associate with a porter. Highly recommend.

Draught. Clear dark brown color with thin tan head. Not much aroma other than a subtle hint of tootsie roll. The lack of nose contradicts the rich and complex flavor. These include chocolate, anise, root beer, cola, and coffee. Slightly sweet with a finish again reminiscent of cola.

This poured a black color with a beige head. The usual suspects in the aroma with chocolate ruling over the coffee. A roasted coffee flavor with a decent amount of bitterness. Not much sweetness shows up in this one. A rather full bodied porter but nothing that stands out from others. Overall pretty good.

Quality. This is so rich and thick, it’s 2/3rds of the way to a stout. And it’s really roasty. Nice. They sure didn’t skimp on ingredients.

12oz - bottled on 9/14/05 - Aroma is roasted chocolate malt and very nutty. Cola appearance with small head and great lacing. Flavor is thin at first with nuttiness, the roasty malts kick in at the end. Palate is a bit thin. It is alright, but more of a brown ale than a porter in my book and the thin palate kills it.

The extremely dark ruby body has an almost purple cast to it. The small head fades quickly. The aroma is intensely milk-chocolatey with some dates and brown sugar. The flavor is sweet, but the body is relatively light. Not a bad porter at all.

A little light and sweet for the style, but the alcohol has a sneaky punch. A very syrupy malt that most of left hands brew seem to have. But well balanced and quaffable

Bottle. Pours black color with an average rocky off-white head that diminished quickly. Heavy roasted malt and chocolate aroma. Medium body. Moderate roasted sweet flavor with a small bitter finish of average duration.

Aroma is sweet and malty, sort of like a chocolate malted beer milkshake. Mild licorice and coffee. Dark reddish brown clear with a thin off-white lacing head. Light bodied with light carbonation, milky and smooth. Starts malty and sweet, with notes of chocolate malted milkshake, mocha, and milk sugar. Light roasted grains, mild coffee, and dry nuttiness. Finish is a little drier, with mild chalky hop bitterness. Not hash, and the after is reaaly clean for a porter. Enjoyable.
