COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A traditional London style beer, our Black Jack Porter highlights chocolate malt and Kent Goldings hops. Its slight initial sweetness quickly yields to the distinctive roastiness of the chocolate malt. The Kent Goldings hops perfectly balance the malt, making it very smooth, with a surprisingly clean finish.

Black with a smooth mouthfeel. Just the right amount of sweetness. A bit more roasted bitterness than I like. I’m picking up quite a bit of a licorice taste at the back end, though that could be a strange reaction to the tortilla chips I just ate (which were great).

Pours a brown color with a thin off-white foam head. Aroma is chocolate, caramel, toffee, and hints of roast. Flavor is chocolate, caramel, some roast. Has a light body, with a crisp feel. Good.

From a bottle. Pours very dark brown with a fizzy bubbly tan bead. Tastes like sweet chocolate malt, roasted nuts, and woody with a hint of ash. Light/medium body and carbonation. Smells like roasted malt, nutty, chocolate, woody, light earth.

From the 12 fl oz bottle. Dark brown pour. Lots of milk chocolate in the aroma. Some earthy hop notes. Light to medium body. The taste has a big milk chocolate sweetness with a dry bitterness lingering at the end.

Keg @ Craft Beer Cafe Halifax. Nothing like a porter but good. When cold from keg smooth with initial nutty mouthfeel like melted hazelnut ice cream splashed with a dash of Speyside single malt. Well balanced. Very slight porter hints once warmed up. More mellow smoky roast comes through with a slight berry aroma. Hint of vanilla pod. Now I’m getting marshmallow - this beer is like something created by Willy Wonka. Now the hops are coming through with more roast after 20 mins. Bitterness towards the last mouthfull like cold espresso. Brilliant beer.

Dark brown with mahogany red highlights, two-finger foamy head and patchy lace. Aromas of roasted malt, grain and a touch of coffee. Roasted malt flavor up front followed by chocolate, licorice and hints of dark fruit and earthy hop. Medium body, creamy mouthfeel, light carbonation and a dry finish.

Poured from bottle, a darker caramel color. Small yellow brown head, with little lacing. Pleasant bread dough aroma, with a smooth malty taste. Mild hints of hops and a clean finish. An enjoyable porter to say the least.

Aromas of dark malts, coco powder, coffee roast, slight nuttiness, toffee and mocha. Appears black with a quick erasing foam. Taste is predominate black malt (perhaps a great deal of black patent), dark grains, toffee, roasted coffee, coffee oils, slight mocha and a faint nuttiness on the back end. Overall, very standard porter but drinks well.
