guyinchicago (215), marengo, Illinois, USA Mar 13, 2008 sometimes you see a rating and say to yourself, self why is this beer rated so low. yes it is a medium body porter, but the sweet choclate flavor comes thur so bold and the smootness of the roasted malts are in near perfect balence with the hops, such a refined taste [nice job brew master] if this were food it would be 5 star. i just recently rated rouge mocha porter in my mind this was better. so for a beer to be rated high it must pour like motor oil look like tar and taste real bitter not in my world. one word fanfreakingtastic a great american porter rock on
kseecs16 (533), Westmont, Illinois, USA Aug 26, 2008 Bottle. Poured a clear reddish brown with a foamy cola like persistent tan head. Aroma is roasted malt and chocolatey but light and bland. Flavor is a light roast, fairly dry with a hinted at sweetness. Seems like more of a toasted brown ale. Light mouth feel. drjay44 (115), USA Aug 21, 2008 12 oz. bottle. Pours anice tan head, which thins rapidly, good lacing, lovely dark brown color, nose with smoke, molasses cocoa, tastes similar, minimal hop bitterness, very nice mouthfeel throughout, a very nice porter. hop_lover (114), Corpus Christi, Texas, USA Aug 20, 2008 Black Jack pours an almost black brown color. With a very fleeting off white head. Smoky aroma notes dominate. The flavor is smoky with a little spiciness from the hops. The beer is so smooth all the way through. Feels medium bodied. A pretty good porter indeed. jkaiser (74), USA Aug 20, 2008 This porter has a chocolate cocoa malt aroma. Lite bitterness from the hops gives way to sweet roasted chocolate malt flavor. I think they played this one too close to the vest. Not much of a screamer. Good for a meet and greet, not for doing the business. texasbartender (151), Sugarland, Texas, USA Aug 17, 2008 beer pours a water black witha thin head that doesn’t stay for the party. the nose is sweet roasted coffe and sugar with malts at the end the taste is sweetned coffe and tosted malts. the finisg has a little bite.
