Commercial Description:
Our latest offering attempts to address an old saying that has plagued mankind since its inception. Many times we've heard, "more is not always better". Invariably the person on the receiving end of such a statement scowls at the ramifications. Here at Left Hand we realize that life cannot be reduced to or understood in absolute terms. Our latest addition to our lineup attempts to take exception with such broad statements about the human condition. Chainsaw is a connoisseur version of our award-winning Sawtooth Ale, designed to befuddle silly generalizations about life. We hope you enjoy!

Thanks to Aaron for this one. Brown body, white-beige head. Aroma of brown sugar and faintly of hops. Flavor has a nice bitterness and a sweet caramel backbone.

RBESG2008: 22 fl oz bottle. Pours hazy brown with a slowly collapsing tan head. Light liqourice and woody hops aroma. Flavour is light roasted malt to a breadish base. Holds a nice level of bitternes with a mild fruity note. Ends smooth malty and hoppy dry.

Bottle from Jimbowood. I will go on record and say I am not a fan of super malty beers. This was just that. Deep, rich copper color. Nose is caramel, molasses, and the slightest aroma of citrus hops. Flavor is super malty. Very light hop flavor. Way too rich and malty for my tastes.

This had a slight off taste. Color, aroma apprearance were all fine for the style, but there was this slight off taste.

Dull amber and slightly hazy. Chewy aroma with caramel and dried fruits and some woody hops. The palate is soft but chewy, a result of an intense caramel start mixing with an alcoholic finish. The sticky sugars this leaves on the palate clash a little bit with the dull woody hops. There are some pleasant characteristics here, but the structure seems either ill-conceived or the exectuion clumsy.

Bottle, 75cl - Hazy amber colored beer with a big orange head. Strong sweet malty aroma with hints of caramel and grapefruit. Flavor is quite sweet with heavy notes of grapefruits, licorice, ripe dark fruits and some salty bitterness. A pretty deep beer, leaning towards barley wine levels.

750mL bottle, courtesy of argo0. Thanks, Aaron! Pours a murky, yellowish-brown color; light tan head with patchy lacing. Lots of dried caramel upfront in the aroma; slightly medicinal red fruits, sticky malts, and pleasant herbal bitterness; nice nose, actually; smells like it has some age behind it, though I’m not sure that it does. Medium-to-full mouthfeel: chewy dried caramel, red fruits, and herbal / earthy bitterness; seems much like an aged, lightly-malted barleywine; pretty pleasant overall. Touch of alcohol at the far end. Lengthy finish: caramel, candy sugar, and some bitterness.
