Commercial Description:
Our latest offering attempts to address an old saying that has plagued mankind since its inception. Many times we've heard, "more is not always better". Invariably the person on the receiving end of such a statement scowls at the ramifications. Here at Left Hand we realize that life cannot be reduced to or understood in absolute terms. Our latest addition to our lineup attempts to take exception with such broad statements about the human condition. Chainsaw is a connoisseur version of our award-winning Sawtooth Ale, designed to befuddle silly generalizations about life. We hope you enjoy!

Thanks to 17th floor for this one as well. Dark almost hazy red with darker, medium thick creamy beige head. Fresh moldy orange, slightly caramel, and grapefruit. Big grapefruit and astringent citrus, very sweet, a little cloying. Thin, watery , oily. This is not very good, unless you like moldy oranges.

2008 Bottle. Pours a very dark copper (like an old penny) with great tan head. Aroma of raisins, plums, alcohol, rum-soaked dark fruit. Alcohol is very evident. Bitter hops balance the syrupy sweet body.

Draft @ the brewery. Poured in hazy orangish gold, with a nice of white head. Aroma was slightly sweet and fruity with some notes of hops and spice. Flavor was mildly fruity up front with a citrusy hop finish. Clean Finishes cleanly slightly bitter due to hops. Medium to medium heavy mouthfeel. A nice beer.

Murky caramel colored with a medium off white head that leaves some minor lacing. Aroma of heavy caramel, malt, honey, mild fruit and a decent amount of hoppiness. Taste of heavy caramel malt, fruit and a fair amount of hops to balance it pretty good. Finishes up with low to moderate bitterness with some of the alcohol coming through.

(05-08-08)Dark orange with a thin white head. Aroma is very sweet and hoppy. Pretty smooth with a sweet backbone than makes way for a bitter finish. Not overly bitter.

750ml Bottle: Aroma of hops, tropical fruit, spices, caramel, and resin. Poured amber/orange in color with a large, dense, tan head that lasted throughout. Cloudy. Full of medium-sized particles. Excellent lacing. Flavor is medium sweet and medium bitter. Tastes of malts, resin, hops, tropical fruit, roasting, caramel, as well as some spices and alcohol. Medium body. Sticky, then chalky texture. Average carbonation. Roasting, resin finish is very dry.

Not retired, as there is a 2008 version now out. I had last year’s. Not too hoppy, but significant. Not too malty but significant. An easy drinking, dangerously hidden alcohol. Good head initially. Nothing outstanding but it was enjoable and satisfying.
