Commercial Description:
Our latest offering attempts to address an old saying that has plagued mankind since its inception. Many times we've heard, "more is not always better". Invariably the person on the receiving end of such a statement scowls at the ramifications. Here at Left Hand we realize that life cannot be reduced to or understood in absolute terms. Our latest addition to our lineup attempts to take exception with such broad statements about the human condition. Chainsaw is a connoisseur version of our award-winning Sawtooth Ale, designed to befuddle silly generalizations about life. We hope you enjoy!

An excellent American Strong, right up there with Arrogant Bastard. Hazy copper pour with a medium off-white head. Rich aroma of caramel malt, piney hops, and yeast. Nice bittersweet taste of leather, wood, caramel, resiny hops, and a touch of smoke. An all-around excellent beer.

Bottled. A hazy amber beer with an orange head. The aroma is sweet malty with notes of caramel, spices, and alcohol, tyme stands out among the spices. The flavor is sweet malty with strong notes of fruit both fresh and a bit over ripe, combined with medium notes of caramel and alcohol. The latter leaving a slight burn along the sides of the tongue. Thanks to Alex (fiulijn).

(Bottle 75 cl) Courtesy of fiulijn. Pours a hazy, amber golden with an off-white head. Fat aroma of caramel and hops. Full-bodied with lots of caramel, overripe fruit and roasted malt - some spiciness too. Hoppy finish yet not overly bitter. We’re really talking Barley Wine borderlands here. 030707

750mL bottle, listed at 9% ABV. Poured a fiery reddish-amber with a 1" creamy, well-retained beige head. Rummy caramel and chocolate are quite fragrant in the aroma.. herbal and woody notes provide accents.. warmth really brought out some vinous notes and a touch of mild smoke.. quite intriguing. The flavor had a long, oxidized, drawn-out spiked caramel middle.. prickly alcohol made it pop in a good way.. sticky vinous notes, caramel, and chocolate linger for a rather long finish.. really tasty! Medium-bodied.. decent feel, but nothing memorable on the palate. Warm, tasty finish. Nice one!

Dark Cloudy Fig Color with Sandy Tan Head. Toasted/Burnt Caramel and Perhaps Even Peated Smoke Malt on the Nose. Quite Sweet. Initially Quite Sweet with the Burnt Caramel/Smoke Notes Coming Out Most Dominantly. Hops Push Their Way Through for a Semi-Balanced Bitterness in the Aftertaste. Some Date/Raisin, Bread and Fruit Notes As Well. Bit Dry Overall, but a Nice Hearty Strong Ale.

750ml bottle. Poured brownish orange at first into my Sam Adams specialty glass then darkend to a caramel brown toward the top. Lots of sediment at the bottom of the bottle. Full fluffy tan head. Big aroma of caramel with a moderate hoppiness. Mostly caramel flavor and some nice hop notes and brown sugar. My bottle had an 8.3% ABV sticker covering the original 9.0% ABV on the bottle. Pretty good beer.

Nose of vanilla, flowers, and typical hops spice. The brew pours cloudy woody brown with yeasty beasties. The average off-white head is creamy, mostly lasting and leaves no lace. The brew has a strong bitter presence just the way I like it, with a fruity middle. The full body is dry and soft.

Auburn brown cloudy pour with creamy light tan head with good lacing, sweet heavy malt smell burnt and grainy, medium to full body, also some honey in there, soft carbonation, cremy texture average duration, leathery yeast defined woody flavor with some brown sugar in there too, balanced average duration, alcoholic not very bitter. Good to try but don’t strain yourself to find.
