Commercial Description:
Our latest offering attempts to address an old saying that has plagued mankind since its inception. Many times we've heard, "more is not always better". Invariably the person on the receiving end of such a statement scowls at the ramifications. Here at Left Hand we realize that life cannot be reduced to or understood in absolute terms. Our latest addition to our lineup attempts to take exception with such broad statements about the human condition. Chainsaw is a connoisseur version of our award-winning Sawtooth Ale, designed to befuddle silly generalizations about life. We hope you enjoy!

Pours dark mahogany/amber with a nice creamy head. Aroma is strong malty caramel, very sweet. Flavor is very rich caramel, a strange bit of fruitiness, and even a touch of hops in the finish, well hidden 9%.

Bottle sampled in mid-May ’06: Slightly hazy copper orange with a nicely-lacing light tan head. Aroma has lots of sweet caramel malt with some earthy English hops. Body starts with good viscosity and lightly sweet pale toasty light caramel maltiness and an English earthy hoppy balance. Pretty well balanced and unique, but could hides its alcohol better.

Pours a dense mahogany honey color w/ full creamy froth. Froth reduces to a thick spattered canopy. Aromas of malt and rock candy. Full nectar w/ mellow residual effers that render a silky mouth feel. Massive caramel malts perform nicely w/ a moderate hop profile balancing it to the finish. Flavors of caramel, maple, cherries, and a slight hard candy essesnce. The candy performs as a modertor between the thick malt and asprin hops balancing this brew into infinity. Finishes w/ sweet asprin. Overall: for as big a brew this is, it’s quite blanced. Highly recommended. Connoisseurs Choice !

Thanks to fatty for opening this up... Appears a dark, caramel toned amber with a light tan head that slowly fizzles into a bubbly collar. Spotty lacing is left around the glass. Smell is of toffee, brown sugar, cookie dough, cocoa, and caramel. Taste is of the same aromas but perhaps a bit more watered down than anticipated. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, slightly thin, doughy yeastiness up front, slightly hot at 9%, and mildly grainy.

Heavy caramel malt aroma with light hops. The appearance is brownish orange with a decent foamy head. Medium mouthfeel with light carbonation. The taste is malty, bready, and finishes with light hops. Not tons of interesting things going on in this one.

750ml bottle shared courtesy of Fatty (thanks!). Poured a deeper brownish / orangish color with an averaged sized off white head. Aromas of caramel, lightly floral, oranges and cocoa. Tastes of caramel, oranges and had a bitter chocolate finish. Malty. Alcohol content well hidden.
