Commercial Description:
Our latest offering attempts to address an old saying that has plagued mankind since its inception. Many times we've heard, "more is not always better". Invariably the person on the receiving end of such a statement scowls at the ramifications. Here at Left Hand we realize that life cannot be reduced to or understood in absolute terms. Our latest addition to our lineup attempts to take exception with such broad statements about the human condition. Chainsaw is a connoisseur version of our award-winning Sawtooth Ale, designed to befuddle silly generalizations about life. We hope you enjoy!

On tap at Duck Island Bar in Seattle, WA--This double ESB poured foggy yet bright amber-like with a mild white clingy thin head and lots of curtaining on the glass. Sticky, hoppy, rich, candy nose. Full-bodied, almost cloying. Bitter with an almost chocolaty finish. Great nightcap beer.

(Bottle) Pours cloudy brown with hints of orange and red. Creamy, pale nougat colored head. The aroma is of sweet citrus fruits like oranges and grapefruit, caramel, cotton candy, dried herbs and ripe dried fruits up front alongside undertones of subtle spices/cardamom, earth, Cheddar cheese, flowers, violet, toffee, over ripe apples, sweet cherries and wood. The sugary caramel malt profile and the woody/earthy/citric/sweet floral hop (East Kent Goldings?) tones make this beer quite English. The flavour is solid caramel/toffee malty with a clear grapefruity and earthy hop profile that makes this beer quite drinkable. Undertones of herbs, liquorice, dried fruits, cherries and violet candy. The mouthfeel is clean, round, light creamy and soft carbonated. Medium sweet and near medium bitter and dry. The aftertaste is caramel malt citric, resiny and woody hops. Medium to full bodied.

Pours a thick reddish amber color with a slight tan head. Aroma is syrupy caramel. Also getting some piney/grassy hop smell as well. Flavor is thick and sweet with a bit of a hop finish. Flavor not incredibly complex and when the alcohol peaks through it is more apparent than it could be with a bigger hop profile.

750ml bottle. Pours an orange color with a thick off-white head. Aroma is caramel, with notes of hops. Flavor is pretty good - but alcohol comes out just a bit more than I had expected - even at 8.3%.
