Commercial Description:
Our latest offering attempts to address an old saying that has plagued mankind since its inception. Many times we've heard, "more is not always better". Invariably the person on the receiving end of such a statement scowls at the ramifications. Here at Left Hand we realize that life cannot be reduced to or understood in absolute terms. Our latest addition to our lineup attempts to take exception with such broad statements about the human condition. Chainsaw is a connoisseur version of our award-winning Sawtooth Ale, designed to befuddle silly generalizations about life. We hope you enjoy!

25.4 oz bottle. Cloudy brown with rosy edges and a puffy bone head. Nose is surprisingly subdued orange marmalade and cranberry. Body on the heavy side but not quite syrupy. Carb tingle. Taste is musty peach, kiwi, caramel and escarole. Buttery aftertaste with cucumber skin.

From the tap poured a dark amber color with a fair amount of head. Nice strong malty flavor with a lingering finish.

750ml bottle ’08 9/10/09 (Binny’s Naperville)-Pours a hazy amber with a small off white head. Aroma of sweetness, malt, and toffee. Taste of sweetness, toffee, dried fruits, and a little hops. I agree with the previous reviews that this full bodied brew is bordering if not a Barley Wine. Quite drinkable and hides the ABV very well. Nice job.

(6/29/08) Bottle sample at RBESG08 grand tasting in Plzen. Muddy brown with a beige head. Aroma has some caramelly malt and some hops. Sweet flavor with malt and caramel, finishes with strong hoppy bitterness. Quite full-bodied.

2008 Bottle. Interesting, the screw bit on the cage is for lefties... Pours with a huge, frothy, off-white head covering a hazed brown body. Good lacing. Aroma is honey, ginger, dark fruits, tangy and cloying toffeem and some hops and sticky pineapple. Taste is malty and a bit tangy (imperial ESB?) and a touch metallic. Not that interesting or refreshing, but just ’okay’.

7 something at grapevine< 12 something everywhere else. Pours dark brown, clear(see-through) like a lager. Molassess sugary sweet aroma. Strong sweet barely taste, and strong alcohol presence in the mouthfeel.Unfortunately< its rather easy to drink. Doesn’t exhibit very strong carbonation. It leaves a moderate lacing on the glass. Reminds me really of a barley wine. That’s what is mostly is anyway.
